Is there really anything better in life than a good pastry? I went and got Beard Papa's the other day, and got Sfingi at Rocco's today. The interaction of sugar and cream and just general goodness can take me to a different world, where one's burgeoning gut is a sign of happiness instead of a shortcoming. That's why taste may be the one sense I'd give up, if forced to. I'd be so much healthier since I wouldn't have to taste vegetables, and wouldn't know to enjoy Sfingi. Of Montreal is playing at Mississippi Nights tonight with The Minders . The show promises to be a blast. I saw them last March (or was it February?) at the Gargoyle, and it was a sold-out night of completely high energy, costume-changing, cover-song goodness. You don't even have to know Of Montreal's songs to enjoy one of their shows.
