Hurts have come so far commercially in the last 10 months, and yet lost none of the substance and power that they produce so beautifully in their music. If anything is certain about Hurts, then it's that they have more than earned their 'cool' status. In late 2009, "Wonderful Life" appeared without warning on YouTube, and became something of a cult hit. The video alone had an authentically Gothic, New Romantic feel to it, and the song had more in common with new wave synthpop of the early '80s -- the essence of Joy Division, but the melodic sense [...]

It's kind of bizarre to me that the original version of this was kicking around over 12 months ago and it still hasn't been properly released yet. We love this song. and we kinda like HURTS a lot now. This mysterious group doesn't have much info or background to be found online. Their track "Wonderful Life" is a perfect 80's slow disco meets modern day electro-synthpop. The lyrics are haunting, and the video is interesting. Looking at their pictures they look like a barrel of laughs but to be fair their image and song match up pretty well. It's a very intense song. It starts off with a morbid feel and soft 80s Latin-American dancing drums and warbling on about someone called Susie before bursting in to a big beautiful chorus and then in the second verse it builds up with the same sort of thing as the first verse but with bigger drums. As a little add to the last post, there's a new band (or duo, if you like) that are doing the rounds called Hurts (or HURTS, we're not sure where they stand on the whole capital letters conspiracy). Basically, for us, the jury's still out. Only one song has emerged, they haven't played live, they dress like the kind of people you see in certain areas of London (although they're from Manchester, so let's expand that to "certain areas of Britain") that make you think, "God, what an idiot", but secretly you're thinking, "how fucking cool are they". BBC is naming the top 5 acts to look out for in 2010, and coming in at #4 is Hurts . This slick looking (see picture above) UK duo was on a trip to Italy when they discovered "disco lento" (which is Italian for slow disco) and the rest is history. I Checked out their site was really digging their music. Their first single, "Wonderful Life", is a throwback to those slow melancholic electro-pop jams from the 80's full with luscious strings, pads, moving drums and empowering lyrics. enjoY!

Hurts' stunningly beautiful "Wonderful Life" was first released back in April but it is finally get some traction among pop aficionados everywhere. Hurts is the British pop duo of Theo Hutchcraft (vocals) and Adam Anderson (synths/guitar). Together they put out a retro-styled pop sound that is drenched in '80s new wave and romanticism. Here's a band you HAVE to keep track of. HURTS been buzzing all over the MTV offices. There's somewhat of a mystique surrounding them due to the fact that their music is incredibly difficult to get a hold of. I'm not even sure where they're from, how old they are, or any of the details you would normally know about an emerging band. All I know is that they are sick, and have one available Youtube video.
