The Presets - “Ghosts”

So damn good, this track grows on you after multiple listens, don't believe me, give it a go - seriously.  This track is taken off their new forth-coming album,   Pacifica  (out digitally on September 10 and in stores the 11 th  via Casablanca).

Sydney duo The Presets had been away for what seemed like an entire epoch before they reminded the word of their existence with the release of single 'Youth In Trouble' earlier this year. While that track was a pulsing, insatiable take on modern disco/electronica, the second offering from their forthcoming album 'Pacifica' is an altogether more conventional piece. Gone are those clubby, late night rhythms and bursts, in favour of what many music watchers may describe as a 'tune'. We got a new one off The Presets ’ upcoming Pacifica LP, called “Ghosts”. It’s an uplifting tale with all sorts of inspiring lyrics from the Aussie boys. Pacifica will be out October 7th via Modular.

Confesso que a cada novo teaser de Pacifica , novo álbum dos The Presets , fico cada vez mais ansioso para ouvir este retorno na íntegra depois de quatro anos de silêncio. Para quem já ouviu a dançante " Youth In Trouble " que postamos anteriormente aqui, ouça agora "Ghosts" , mais uma faixa do trabalho que mais parece um lado B da primeira. É preciso ter fé e acreditar que os The Presets estão a seleccionar as piores músicas do seu novo álbum 'Pacifica' para mostrar ao mundo. Cada tiro cada melro. Se o álbum segue esta linha, candidatam-se a um dos piores álbuns do ano. Depois de "Youth in Trouble" que deixou muito a desejar, nem sei o que dizer sobre este novo tema de nome "Ghosts". Ya... fantasmagórico. Assusta qualquer um.

Taking a classic folk style, sea shanty and adding it to an up tempo techno groove was just genius [...]

The Presets ' latest sample from their forthcoming third LP Pacifica is a synth-doused sea chant called "Ghosts", with booming vocals serving as the crux of the song. For a sea shanty, it's pretty damn good. Stream it below alongside its screen saver-esque background. Pacifica is out on September 11th via Casablanca Records, and if you've yet to hear the lead single "Youth In Trouble", head here .

On September 7, Modular Recordings will release The Presets ' Pacifica , the duo's first album since 2008. We recently heard the album's meandering first single, "Youth In Trouble," and today we get to listen to another lush thumper that contemplates time and the boundaries it forces upon us.
