  St Vincent has just released a new video for the track, 'Cheerleader' from Indie30 Album of the Year, Strange Mercy. Exquisitely shot by Hiro Murai, it's in keeping with uneasy feel of other videos from the album and sees vertically horizontal Annie Clark unveiled as the sole exhibit in an art museum, a modern day female Gulliver breaking free of her shackles before being transformed into, seemingly, a piece of porcelain and shattering [...]

A track for the song "Cheerleader," which comes off the latest St. Vincent album, Strange Mercy . The album made it onto my list of favorite albums from 2011 , and you can check our review of it here . Look for this album now on 4AD. A lot like the video for " Cruel ," this song's video deals with being singled out, critiqued, controlled. The ending is just as depressing, too.

Waaay more than necessary, but there were oodles of videos that were highly enjoyable this week.  I'm especially proud of Laura Gibson, who stepped out from behind her music to star in a haunting video for her title track song, "Le Grande".   Also, watch out for the slow-mo ta ta's in the Labyrinth Ear [...]

There is no doubt the wide-eyed and porcelain-skinned St. Vincent , aka Annie Clark, is captivating to her fans in a live setting, so it should be no surprise she  is no less mesmerizing in a music video. However, Clark has now twice objectified herself, almost acknowledging that her own beauty is a vulnerable factor. In her morbid video for "Cruel," her first single off of 20112s "Strange Mercy," she was kidnapped to play the part of the perfect mother. In the latest clip for "Cheerleader," Clark is literally a pretty piece of art. But [...]
