1. Phoenix, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Glassnote) What I love most about Phoenix is its unabashed celebration of pop music. There's no hidden agenda here. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is a pure pop record. Catchy hooks, big multi-tracked choruses, retro synths, and an almost primal sense of rhythm make this record an undeniably infectious listen. Perhaps, over-played by year's end, it still takes the cake. 2. Dirty Projectors, Bitte Orca (Domino) I want to hate what the Dirty Projectors do. It's flauntingly experimental music played with an air [...]
Not one for the world of Heat magazine, I find it a little cheapening that Alex Turner goes out with the pout on a stick that is Alexa Chung. I thought you were down to earth man, all this T4 presenter courting simply turns you into "Alexa's indie rocker boyfriend". I have friends who find Alexa Chung attractive, actually a hell of a lot of men find her so, I say Alex dumps her and gets himself some anonymous beauty with boobs (you can't be doing with that teenage boy chest) and lose the pointless distraction. I think [...]

Arctic Monkeys ' third album, the Josh Homme -produced Humbug , is a solid-but-unspectacular collection of desert rock that scales back the group's usual garage-y post-punk snottiness in favour of cryptic lyrics and atmospheric production. The collection's clear standout is "Cornerstone," a mid-tempo ballad about being haunted by a breakup. The lyrics are classic Alex Turner, with vivid detail and scathing wit; the tune itself, however, sounds closer to the Kinks , with breezy acoustic strumming and jangling electric leads. The song recently got the video treatment it deserves. It's [...]
I watched the premiere while I was in the UK. Quite shocked to be honest, never expected it to be so simple and funny. Love this video, totally adore Alex!!
This video features one static shot of Alex Turner against a white background singing into a tape recorder, and nothing else. There's an odd humor to the whole production, as he mimes the lyrics with lazy, cheeky irony, but for most part he's staring into the camera, and the minimalism demands attention paid to the song and the singer.

You've all probably seen this already but at the risk of redundancy, here it is again: the latest Arctic Monkeys video directed by frequent collaborator Richard Ayoade (of The IT Crowd/Mighty Boosh fame). The Cornerstone vid is all A. Turn™ all the time in which he lip-synchs the song and accompanies it with a sort of interpretive dance. Some people think it's unabashedly self-indulgent and others think it's a stroke of subtle genius. The YouTube comments prove that the video has elicited a rather polarising response. I think it's hilarious and charming [...]

The new Arctic Monkeys video for "Cornerstone" is pretty much one shot of Alex Turner standing in a white room. Add in his headphones, tape recorder and microphone as props-as if the lyrics are being fed onto a tape for...
:)O single sai oficialmente a 16 Nov '09.Video Credits:
