Video: Department of Eagles - 'Herringbone' (DUMBO Session)

Dan Rossen Month continues with another cut from the Department Of Eagles DUMBO session that brought us the unreleased " 1997 ," featuring Dan and Fred alone in a Brooklyn room with a view. This live "Herring Bone" is stripped of In Ear Park 's arrangements and accouterments, presented here in its piano-man core, unadorned but for a few touches of Fred's rhythmic support. Rossen tends to dig up a little grit from his voicebox when he sings live, and I always find that's just compensation for the loss of his work's always remarkable, Chris Taylor production.
