Video: Lupe Fiasco Reveals New Album Details - Beale St Music Festival 2012

Six years ago Lupe Fiasco released his classic debut (and one of my favourite albums of 2006) Food and Liquor , however the Chicago rapper has failed to make anything quite as good since (his last album, Lasers was poorly received last year). Good news for fans of the debut though it has been announcement that Lupe is making a sequel, Food and Liquor II . Lupe Fiasco 's recent   output has been patchy at best. The odd track has hinted at a return to the brilliance of the MC's first two albums, but by and large his post-'08 catalogue is chart-poppy nonsense. How exciting, then, to hear that the forthcoming Food & Liquor 2 will hark back to "the essence of what made [ Food & Liquor ] so special." The first single is out later this month; here's hoping for a return to the Lupe we love.

Fiasco season is upon us, people. During an interview with Fuse, Lu decided to spill a few details about the forthcoming Food & Liquor 2 . According to Lu, we should expect the first single from the double album on May 22nd. From the sound of it, this album is going to be pretty serious.

It may seem like Lupe has been quiet of the past couple months ( SNDCLSH ), but for me this is always a good sign. For artists like Kanye, Lupe and other established hip-hop superstars a long break normally means lots of studio time and thus, a great project.
