Les new-yorkais de The National ne sont apparement pas pressés de se remettre à écrire ; en effet le succeseur de "Boxer" (qui date de 2007) n'est pas prévu avant 2010. Le groupe prévoit de rentrer en studio au mois d'avril prochain tout de même, et d'enchainer avec une tournée dans les festivals de l'été.. Les frères Aaron et Bryce Dessner ont récement produit la double compilation "Dark Was The Night" - à paraître courant février 2009 et dont les fonds seront reversés à Red Hot, organisme de lutte contre le sida. I'm pretty sure that this is the first new National song unveiled since Boxer , in its debut performance earlier this week at The Vega in Copenhagen, Denmark. The National performed a new post- Boxer song called "A Thousand Black Cities" at Vega in Copenhagen last night. Ominous. The Danish crowd seems to dig it, especially the girl who's laughing near the camera for the duration. The sound on the YouTube clip isn't crystal clear, but seems like Matt Berninger's ruminating on a quiet apocalypse in a neighborhood within a ridiculous country ... and that it's tied to a shift in the weather, smothering blue skies, and the exit's smooth horns. But that's just an early guess.
