Chilly Gonzales plays the piano. Originally from Canada where his parents taught him the great Ivory discipline, he moved to Berlin, becoming notorious on the underground scene for his talent as well as his eccentricity - he proclaimed himself as the "Prince of the Berlin Underground" at a press conference. He took Daft Punk and Bjork songs apart and remade them, and was even invited by David Bowie to his Meltdown festival at our Southbank Centre. Then he went to Paris, where he collaborated with his good friend Feist on her first album and produce a selection of artists [...]
Chilly Gonzales, in addition to having one of the better names I've heard in a while, is a fantastic pianist. He's technically proficient and musically savvy, and he has a pretty impressive track record on the producer side of things (he's worked with Fiest, Peaches, and Jamie Lidell, to name a few). I caught him last week at Joe's Pub in NYC and was really impressed. Chased down a few cool songs that he's done recently, and I wanted to share them - some awesome piano-based takes on distinctly non-piano tunes like Daft Punk's "Too Long" and [...]

"I don't think I'm an instantaneous act the whole world will love in one second" Ah, Marina & The Diamonds. Where do I begin? This woman has both her feet planted firmly on the ground and changed everyone's expectation of her going mainstream. The quirky and flamboyant singer is gaining a following for her inventive songwriting, theatrical stage shows and dazzling style. The artist who is one of BBC's selected few artists dubbed Sound of 2010. We all heard and read of how Perez Hilton and Kanye [...]
This is odd. Marina And The Diamonds collaborated with piano-whizz/ producer Gonzalez on a new full orchestral version of the song 'Hollywood' for an Estonian TV show. Marina's latest newsletter also lets it slip that she is down to play Tripod on May 27th in Dublin and the Speakeasy, Belfast the night before. The Hollywood single is out today . Here's an MP3 of the above performance. MP3: Marina And The Diamonds - Hollywood (Gonzalez version) Related Posts [...]

"This is who I was. Hollywood infected my brain and I really valued the wrong things in life, but I changed dramatically. This obsession with celebrity culture is really unhealthy. I don't want to live my life like that, and I don't want to be a typical pop star..." - Marina via BBC News The release of Marina and The Diamonds debut album is right around the corner. On February 22nd, The Family Jewels will be released. *that sounds so sexual!* [...]
(Ancora ti chiamerò trottolino amoroso e duddudaddada. Si sopporta la molesta Marina e i diamanti pur di ammirare in tutto il suo splendore il maestro Minghi Gonzales e le sue dita cicciotte in guanti bianchi. Ah, sapessi suonare il piano e fossi brutto come lui) Too Long (Gonzales Version) - Daft Punk
Marina & The Diamonds performt zusammen mit Gonzales 'Hollywood'. Februar. Just got to Los Angeles for GRAMMYs and Superfraiche tommorow. Running around. Don't have much time to blog right now, but I want you to have to exquisite remake of Marina & The Diamons' "Hollywood" that Marina recorded with Gonzales for an Estonian music TV program. So good. More soon. Marina & The Diamonds "Hollywood" (Gonzales Orchestra Version)
marina and the diamonds feat gonzales - hollywood [Gonzales dreamt up and conducted a full orchestral reworking of Hollywood, inspired by the songs lyrics. Marina & Gonzales came together to record one performance for an Eastern European TV show...awesomely random!] http://feeds.feedburner.com/Wo ngiesMusicWorld
After hearing Marina and the Diamonds ' upcoming single "Hollywood," Canadian artist and producer Gonzales decided to take things into his own hands and jazz up the song with his own glittering, orchestral version. Above, check out this 'exclusive footage' of Marina and Gonzales' take on the production for Pop! , 'the premier Estonian music revue program.' Such warm, fuzzy lighting...it really brings out some nostalgia for the USSR again, doesn't it? Oh Marina, you slay me with your silly ideas. And look at that outfit-shoulders for days! Below, [...]
