Brooklyn noise-rockers, A Place To Bury Strangers, are back from after a two year rest with a new EP, expected to be released early next year.

While all the talk of South By Southwest has us excited (our preview begins on Friday!), those living in the Dallas area are fortunate to have an amazing festival of their own. 35 Conferette runs from March 10-13 in Denton, TX and features over 100 bands spanning a zillion genres. Frankly, not only are many bands passing through this event on their way to SXSW, but many music industry and music lovers are also stopping in Denton to check out the amazing lineup. Do yourself a favor and get a wristband! Contest! You [...]

A Place To Bury Strangers will be hitting Spaceland on 6/26 in support of their album from last year Exploding Head . They are currently on tour with Big Pink, so that should be a good show. Exploding Head was raucous and well-reviewed; here's hoping it gets the band more play. A Place To Bury Strangers: In Your Heart.mp3
If you are checking out The Big Pink show tonight at The Parish I suggest getting there early for the openers A Place To Bury Strangers. And if you don't have plans I suggest you go down and check out both. Going to be a decent show tonight.
I've seen A Place to Bury Strangers three or four times now. They are the only band in recent history for whom wearing earplugs is an absolute necessity. I'm aware that, as a music journalist, I g... Continue reading "Incoming: A Place to Bury Strangers at the Bottleneck, April 10" >
Para quem não conhece os A Place To Bury Strangers são um trio Nova Iorquino com um power monumental e que fazem lembrar, no seu estilo de música, outros tempos.... As influências Shoegaze e... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

I highly recommend that you bring your earplugs for this show. A Place To Bury Strangers just might be the loudest band on Earth right now. Okay, now that My Bloody Valentine has made a triumphant return, that probably isn't true. But they sure come close! The band takes a few pages out of the MBV playbook, but even more from The Jesus and Mary Chain one. Lead guitarist/vocalist Oliver Ackermann uses the pedals and special effects boxes he builds for his company Death By Audio brilliantly throughout. Though this band is [...]

On Exploding Head , its as if A Place To Bury Strangers took many of the full throttle atmospheric sounds of rock / pop history (distortion, feedback, reverb...) and exponentially expanded their parameters to new unrealized territory. The album looms with a resonating loudness and spacey psycho-violent zeal delivered by way of a series of implied treachery, collisions, and other things difficult to turn from. sound: [...]
WARNING: This article contains the abbreviation APTBS a lot, this is an abbreviation of A Place To Bury Strangers. Some people don't know that, isn't that right Chris? The build up to last nights "A Place To Bury Strangers" and "Japandroids" gig at the Captains Rest couldn't have been worse. I wasn't feeling too grand (the beginnings of a cold i think), i was very tired, i had sore limbs from the previous nights 5-a-side football (Andy/Begbie nearly broke my foot!) and also due to certain circumstances i was now going to the gig on my [...]

SPOTIFY LINK: A Place To Bury Strangers - Exploding Head DOWNLOAD: A Place To Bury Strangers - In your Heart A Place To Bury Strangers, nothing much to say than they're a glorious onslaught of noise in the best possible way. Sure you can say they sound like My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3 and The Jesus & Mary Chain, but then that's pretty much why they're amazing. Mentioned them here before but they're one of the best live bands [...]

I was recently granted an interview with A Place to Bury Strangers vocalist and guitarist, Oliver Ackermann. He graciously took some time out of his busy schedule to discuss the band's touring history, new record Exploding Head , and vinyl pressing craziness. The aforementioned new album further expands on APTBS' history of noise drenched, shoegaze, guitar freakouts. It's an excellent sophomore release and definitely takes the songwriting to a new level for the band. The album is a touch more user friendly than the last album, but it most definitely as interesting. We, at Rocksellout, [...]

The highly anticipated new record Exploding Head from Brooklyn's A Place To Bury Strangers hit stores today. Definitely worth a spin. Absolutely gutted that I missed their live show last night in DC.

Phew boy! This week's new release calendar is overflowing with goodies. I'll have to admit to not having heard all of these in their entirety. And honestly, when you're hit with this many releases at the same time, it's impossible to really absorb them all, even if you do make the time to listen through each one. But this week is definitely chock full of albums I've been eagerly anticipating. The Raveonettes latest, In and Out of Control , has finally arrived. What can [...]

Does a musical genre exist called 'Industrial Shoegaze?' Because that would be the perfect classification for Brooklyn band A Place to Bury Strangers . Having earned themselves the unofficial title of "the loudest band in New York," if you like your rock with noisy guitars and that distorted garage band quality, you are gonna love these guys. Having said that, don't get confused, they are not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill dive bar playing, guitar thrashing novices. On the contrary, A Place to Bury Strangers has developed [...]
A band I truly love, and those who know me, know I proudly display my liking for the band (t-shirt), A Place to Bury Strangers , have a new album coming out Oct 6th. Exploding Head could quite be one of my favorite rock albums of the year, and the band's performance slated for Oct 11th @ Mohawk has been carved into my schedule for weeks now. Check out the video for the single "In Your Heart"
