After watching the recently unearthed footage of Arcade Fire playing a house party in 2002 and a 17-year-old Robin Pecknold covering Radiohead and Simon & Garfunkel, I thought it would be fun to collect more early videos of our favorite bands from before we ever heard them. Well, fun for us, maybe not so much for them... Read More...
Post de musica repeteco da Uaua. ∆ Esse ultimo video é em 2003, super young MGMT. :o

I was pleasantly surprised to see Kyp Malone and Harsh Toke's cover of Talking Heads classic "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" make the rounds today as just yesterday I revisited a video of an early MGMT performance of the song at their alma mater, Wesleyan University. Upon further inspection, the band behind the most anticipated album of the year, Arcade Fire, also gave the Speaking in Tongues closing track a shot, back in '05. After one viewing of all three live performances, it struck me how they each were [...]
Back before MGMT ever had MGMT they were just some college hipsters at Wesleyan. This was before hipsters became a negative term, before "Kids" was a classic indie song, and before the "change" of Obama. "This Must Be The Place," is by far one of my favorite Talking Heads song. During a summer between my college years, I worked at an Irish pub with two Irish female immigrants, one of which was Emma. She was small, rambunctious and a hell of a mean drunk at times. Whenever she was acting shitty,... Read more at www.SFCritic.com

This week we've got arguably the first love song that The Talking Heads ever recorded. This track was originally released on the 1983 album Speaking In Tongues . Click here to view the video of this song from Stop Making Sense. Did you know that the studio recording of this tune had members of the band not playing their primary instruments? It was: Jerry Harrison (bass), Tina Weymouth (guitar), and David Byrne (keyboards). The Contestants: The Arcade Fire : [...]
I started listening 2 a lot of Talking Heads, because I want to get more in touch with the roots of conceptual pop music. Feel like I'll appreciate modern indie music if I travel back in time and listen to 'what was once cool'/'cutting edge'/'progressive.' Seems like things from the past influence things in the present, and the present becomes the past, influencing things in the future. I recently saw a meme where some bro 'covered' the hit song "This Must Be the Place." I think that he might be 'trying to go [...]

Here is a video of MGMT performing a cover of This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) originally made by the Talking Heads . This is from a performance in 2003 by MGMT at Wesleyan University . Always rate with stars and comments :)
One of my most watched videos in the past two weeks is a cover MGMT did of the song T his Must Be the Place ( Talking Heads ). It's recorded in plain daylight, at some Uni, back in 2003 when they had an audience formed by 20 or so people. It's amazing how far they got in 5 years! They seem to have lots of fun singing ;))
