Lissie - Named Best New Solo Artist of 2010 by Paste - a call with which we wholeheartedly agree - the Rockford, IL roots/pop performer collects five covers from Lady Gaga to Metallica to Kid Cudi for this exotic and diverse EP...we caught Lissie at a live show this summer and were simply floored at how much she'd matured from coffeehouse folk ingénue into a charismatic and confident performer who delights in shaking things up // Release : Covered In Flowers (November 8, Fat Possum) // Sounds like : a lot [...]

I don't think I've mentioned my insane and utter adoration of a very good cover have I? Well I've decided to pick my top covers of 2010 and narrow them down into one lovely post for you. Included, there are some label babies & of course some emerging artists and it was pretty hard; I've seen some particular beauties this year but in no particular order... Here we have this lady, Eliza Doolittle who was a definite interview highlight [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Video , Exclusive Kid Cudi . Lady Gaga . Lionel Richie . Metallica . Hank Williams . This disparate quintet of artists has one thing in common: they've all been covered by Lissie . And in the age of the Internet, the singer-songwriter's indie-folk renditions of their songs -- 'Bad Romance,' 'Hello,' 'Nothing Else Matters,' 'Pursuit of Happiness' and 'Wedding Bells,' respectively -- have become somewhat of [...]

Lissie has already made a big impression over in the UK gaining positive critical reception across the board. On August 18th she is finally releasing her much lauded album Catching A Tiger in the United States via Fat Possum . Below is an awesome cover of Kid Cudi's "Pursuit of Happiness" and and an incredible cover of Lady GaGa's "Bad Romance". Despite its overwhelming presence, indie and rock guitar music is not the be all and end all of the Oxegen weekend. Here are a few of the more soothing sounds: 1. Mumford & Sons (Heineken Green Spheres, Sunday) When State first came across Mumford & Sons at Field Day last summer we fell instantly in love but did wonder how on earth a band such as this could ever hope for mainstream commercial success. Well, we were obviously wrong. Expect this to be one of the highlights of the whole festival. [...]

Popping Up is our recurring look at new artists making noise on the music landscape. Because, hey, Madonna and Britney were once unknown, too. Lissie is that rare female artist in the music scene who doesn't feel the need to drape herself in the latest or craziest fashions in order to get noticed—all she needs to get your attention is her voice and natural talent. The 28-year old singer-songwriter, whose tunes range from bluesy-folk to straight-up pop, has sparked online buzz with her covers of Top 40 hits from the likes of Lady Gaga and Kid [...]
UK singer Lissie has set a date for the North American release of her debut album Catching A Tiger. The record will hit our shores on August 17th. Here's a look at the track listing for the record: Record Collector When I'm Alone In Sleep Bully Little Lovin' Stranger Loosen The Knot Cuckoo Everywhere I Go Worried About Look Away Oh Mississippi While you're waiting, enjoy her live cover version
I've yet to have the pleasure of seeing Lissie live. I have, however, enjoyed everything I've heard since we debuted Little Lovin' last year . The talented Illinois native apparently has quite the repertoire of cover songs in her live arsenal. As a lead up to the release of her debut LP, Catching a Tiger , she's released videos covering Lady Gaga, Metallica, and now Kid Cudi... Previous: Lissie covers Lady Gaga's Bad Romance [...]
Well this Bad Romance of Lady GaGa cover was released a little while ago, I remember seeing it on on PMA in early April or something, but I have no real good reason of why I didn't post it earlier except for my own lazyness... and yeah, I stumbled on a video of her performing [...]
I ran across these videos a few days ago in a thread on the Knoxblab forums. I had never heard of Lissie before reading the thread in question, but the comparisons to Stevie Nicks (you'll hear the resemblance in the first video) were enough to pique my curiosity. The first video is an original tune from Lissie... the second is just for fun.
Lissie been making a big splash in our next of the woods with her latest covers (Lady Gaga and Metallica) She's been one of our "bands to watch" this year. She is one of the most passionate and talented new female artists out there.

It's fair to say that we are absolutely in love with Lissie right now. The freckly blonde from California is producing heart warming country-folk blues, that if we were to guess at influences would immediately make us consider Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow and KT Tunstall. We'd go as far to say that her song In Sleep could quite probably be the secret track off Fleetwood Mac's Rumours that nobody discovered until now. Yet often we get confused between 'influences' and 'sounds like'. Which is just as well because Lissie lists her influences as pie, [...]

Saying there are a lot of Lady Gaga covers floating around on YouTube is like saying Tiger Woods was having a little bit of an issue with those pesky marriage vows but occasionally I stumble across a good one. Here are two of those occasions: Lissie, "Bad Romance" The Morning Pages, "Telephone" You know of any others?

Well, I've become more or less obsessed with The Morning Benders as of late - their sophomore album Big Echo has been on heavy repeat around mi casa. After seeing them at SXSW, I'm sold that these guys are the real deal. They have a commitment to the music that is really really cool, and the end product shows how much they pour into it. One of my favorite videos of the year is a feature Pitchfork made featuring a large number of San Fransisco musicians playing "Excuses" http://pitchfork.com/tv/#/epis ode/2115-the-morning-benders, a recording that is really quite divine. Take a look at this cool cover of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" from Illinois singer/songwriter Lissie. This is really well done.
