Duffy Set to Quit Music?

Duffy - Warwick Avenue live from Later... With Jools Hollan
Filed under: News Peter Kramer, AP/PA Photos Duffy is alleged to be considering an end to her music career following the disappointing response to her second album, ironically entitled 'Endlessly', according to reports. The Welsh singer who burst onto the pop scene on the back of 2008's 'Rockferry' album, racking up huge sales around the world, has failed to replicate that success with last year's follow-up. Her decline has been as [...]

The Year in Review:: 2008

The Year in Review:: 2008 1. Bon Iver For Emma, Forever Ago Good Winter. The rare record that makes you want to bust out of your own skin with such moments leaving the soul blissfully reaching critical mass. What is also so impressive about Bon Iver is the evolution the music from For Emma, Forever Ago went through as a live entity in 2008. Would you really rush out? The ubiquitous Duffy appeared recently on Jools Holland to sing mores songs from her Rockferry CD (out March 3), this one a lovely Van Morrison -ish number called Warwick Avenue . You know how Van always sings songs about places he used to hang out? He is the master of that genre, along with Richard Hawley . These guys - and now the prettier Duffy - know how we like to get all misty about the "golden days" when we, you know, ran wild [...]

My counterpart here on the Toilet, Mof, has made his opinion clear recently - when it comes to '08's post-Winehouse soulstress onslaught, he's in Candie Payne's camp . Although to be fair to Payne she's been plugging away for a while now, and in my opinion deserves a break on the strength of "One More Chance" alone.

Next big thing? Duffy

Duffy .

I'm still trying to track down Duffy 's contributions to Mint Royale's 2005 album 'See You In The Morning' . But until then here's a little more from the Welsh wizard. These clips feature her performance on Later . An interview can be seen here

Duffy on Later with Jools Holland - watch videos!

Duffy - Warwick Avenue live from Later... With Jools Hollan
Last Friday night, Duffy was a guest on Later...with Jools Holland . It was good to finally watch her on TV after only seeing her YouTube videos! She's got such a soulful voice, and she sounded great. Surprisingly she didn't perform her debut single "Rockferry" - not sure why. Either way, it was good to hear her other two singles, "Warwick Avenue" and "Mercy" , which I think will be her next release. I didn't know that Duffy was scheduled to be on Jools Holland until [...]
