The Baltimore band returns to San Diego this Sunday // Follow Owl and Bear on Facebook and Twitter for contests, MP3s, and links that don't make it onto the blog.

photo by Liz Flyntz Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part of our Song of the Day podcast subscription . This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased tracks, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Each and every Friday we offer songs by local artists. Today’s selection, featured on the Midday Show with Cheryl Waters, is "Myth" by Beach House from their 2012 album, Bloom , on Sub Pop . Of all the bands playing at Forecastle X this year, we may be most excited about Beach House on Friday. We fell in love with the band after their release of Teen Dream , and just in time for this summer, Beach House has released the first track of their upcoming album, Bloom , out May 15th. Check out "Myth" below. It's just as hauntingly beautiful as their sophomore album, so I can't wait to hear the rest, then see it live in-person at Forecastle! [...]

Thursday, March 8, 2012 Today's Quick Mention: If you feel like getting out tonight then you should head over to La Zona Rosa for Girls and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. I've haven't seen the former since their stellar set at the last FunFunFun Fest, so I'm pumped for the show. Tix are $22. Doors are at 8pm. I didn't initially freak out (like the rest of the blogosphere) over the arrival of a new Beach House track, but I can't deny [...]

Graphic by Katherine Speelman. Most of these albums are contained within this: Our Seasonal Soundtrack: Winter Spotify playlist . The Antlers Hospice [Frenchkiss; 2009] In the past couple of years, no album has come close that delivers the devastating emotional blow that Hospice delivers. In fact, it was our album of the year back in 2009. The narrative of the concept album centers on the relationship between a hospice [...]
As 2011 comes to an end, we are taking a look back at some of our favorite posts of the year by our guest editors. Stoutly refusing to record his passionate songs under anything less than his own terms (in his New Jersey home on a TASCAM MiniStudio), F.M. Cornog, under the name East River [...]

Platan fékk mjög jákvæða dóma og endaði m.a. á árslista Pitchfork. Devotions , sem kom út tveimur [...]

Photo by Jason Nocito Sure, Beach House 's Teen Dream is—like the band's previous efforts—an excellent atmospheric album to play in the background while sitting around your living room and having a discussion about how, like, you're totally over bands that make atmospheric background music. But how does it hold up in a live setting, where—instead of lounging around on your comfy couch and only kind-of listening to the band's lo-fi dream-pop—you're expected to stand on your own two feet and pay close attention for the full duration of the performance? The jury [...]
Tomorrow begins another Pitchfork Music Festival at Chicago's Union Park. From Saturday's LCD Soundsystem disco-punk dance party to Sunday night's Pavement reunion, this one should be pretty freakin' amazing. But of course, you know all about those guys, and there's so much more music to be seen before 8:30 p.m. So, we decided to focus on our favorite mid-tier acts and, perhaps through out clever turns of phrase, guide you in their direction as well. This is your Loud Loop Press Pitchfork Fest 2010 Preview. [...]

Beach House ~ " Zebra " views: 8,322 ~B'More Style~ Just a cool song for a long weekend. The video feels like watching a screensaver. Bonus: "Zebra"(mp3)
A definite contender for a top 5 album's of the year spot, Beach House's Teen Dream is not to be forgotten too soon. And now we have a video to reinforce this wonderful piece of work.

Yo Victoria Legrand, will you be our mom? We are 99% positive your soothing, lullaby harmonies and the white noise of this visual will cure our chronic insomnia, which has worsened since the mosquito decided it would live in our bedroom and feed off us through the night. Can you come over and sing the mosquito away? Can you come over and spray the mosquito with bug repellent, then sing us this song, then read us a story? Something nice, like Gárcia Marquez. Then let's drink warm milk. Deal.
Taken from the Teen Dream DVD. Directed by Mark Brown.

The band are going really low-budget for their videos but it doesn't undermine the beauty of the songs, which carry themselves on their own. Filed under: Aussie , Clip , Yankee Panky Tagged: beach , house , teen dream , zebra
