Over a decade into a career that has seen them write the blue-print for nearly every inventive guitar band that has cropped up since, Minus The Bear are on the brink of releasing their brand new record, and their first in the UK with our favourite label, Big Scary Monsters . The new record has been described as a " return to their signature sound" after the more electronic OMNI LP. As promised, the new record does indeed hark back to their best work; full of gloriously-mathy guitar lines and some of their biggest [...]

One band I discovered a few years ago and have become a fan ever since is Minus the Bear . The experimental/indie/rock band hails from Seattle and formed in 2001. Currently, they have released 4 albums and 4 EPs. Each with its own distinct sound, yet you can always tell it is Minus the Bear . After a few years, people are finally starting to recognize their style and appreciate the music they create. Their latest album released in May 2010, Omni [...]
In the past decade, Minus the Bear has become akin to an indie-cult kool-aid; with the release of their fourth full-length album Omni, this under-the-radar band is now up in our faces, and...

Minus the Bear are thrilled to embark on a new headlining tour due to the overwhelming demand by fans and several months of sold-out tour dates. Beginning October 18th in Eugene, OR, the Seattle based quintet will head out in continued support of their latest album, OMNI, which Alternative Press praised as "the perfect album to launch Minus the Bear into another dimension entirely" and Paste Magazine simply called "the group's most explosive record." The tour will also include a performance at this year's Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans on October [...]

Seattle-based quintet Minus the Bear brings their North American headlining tour to New York tonight as they play Webster Hall. The band is on the road in support of their new album OMNI, which debuted in the Top 50 of the Billboard Top 200. Released May 4th on Dangerbird Records,...

Minus the Bear headlined The Mod Club on Sunday night, celebrating American Independence Day with a fervent Canadian audience. The Seattle quintet brought along some of their own strobe lights, adding to the venue's already stunning high-key lighting to make for a truly surreal concert experience. The band are midway through their summer tour in support of their fourth full-length album OMNI , which was produced by Grammy winner Joe Chiccarelli and released by Dangerbird Records in early May. In addition to shooting the show, I caught up with [...]
Minus the Bear - "My Time": guardate il video e scaricatela é stato pubblicato [...]
Tokyo Police Club Tokyo Police Club - Breakneck Speed TOKYO POLICE CLUB | MySpace Music Videos It isn't the most earth shattering video but the album it is from is perhaps one of my favorite of the year. Tokyo Police Club never seem to get enough respect but their new LP Champ is perfect fodder for your summer soundtrack. It drops June 8th and the band will be swinging through town with Passion Pit at The Mann on June [...]

Minus The Bear at Webster Hall (10/25/08) Photo : Jon Klemm On the Monday before their new record OMNI was released, Minus The Bear teased New Yorkers with a surprise show at Bowery Electric. If you weren't lucky enough to get into that tiny record release party, you can catch them at Webster Hall on July 8 . Tickets for that show went on sale today. More Minus The Bear tour dates [...]

I'm a latecomer to the marvels that Minus the Bear bring home, but I'm catching up fast. The band has a brand new video (see below), a musical release called Omni that came out in late April and has been getting pretty good reviews and they are winding up a tour next week. That tour brings the band to Tempe's Marquee Theater this weekend. (Although Minus the Bear are from Seattle, one of the cities that apparently is halting business with Arizona because of the immigration bill. So, [...]

Minus the Bear can do no wrong. Although their latest album, Omni , may not be my favorite, it's got plenty of jams to make it not worth passing up. One of these is "My Time," the album's first single and by far the most synth-drenched song the band has ever written. I was beyond surprised to hear the album open with this groovy number of a track, but they pull it off and very well at that. Man, I want an omnichord . MP3: Minus the Bear - "My Time" [...]
