It's no secret that we love Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin . Their blend of indie/pop/rock is sublime and with the release of their latest record, Let It Sway , the band have proved that nobody does better than them. We caught up with Phil Dickey to talk about the new record, baseball theme songs and screenplays. Hello! How are you today? Hi. I was having a great day until I realized my bank accidentally put all my money in the wrong bank [...]

I was more than a little busy Monday so I wasn't able to check up on the mighty Twitter much. Apparently I picked the wrong day to be occupied as everyone and their mother decided to announce that they were coming to the Lou. Obviously I'm still swamped because it took me until Wednesday to actually put together a post, but hey better late than never! Here's a preview of some of the shows coming to town later this year, St. Louis you're blowing up! As always check out the STL Concert Calendar [...]

Monday, May 24, 2010 Today's Quick Mention: LOST is over. I thought the finale (and the entire series, for that matter) made for some great TV, and I will definitely miss the show. But what about you? Are you happy it's over? Did the writers wrap things up nicely enough? More importantly, what the hell do we watch now? Despite the fact that Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin greatly makes me miss working in college radio as [...]
Sarah Cass When music bloggers started fawning over Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin in 2005, the first suitable reaction was Who? and the second, Why? While it was exciting to see a band from S... Continue reading "Tonight: Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, at the Jackpot in Lawrence" >
STILL LOVES YOU BORIS YELTSIN! Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin -Think I Wanna Die (video) *Ci hanno messo comunque 2 [...]
It's been two years since we heard this name and felt a little queasy at the length and concept of such a moniker. Thankfully, the Missouri band play some rather delightful indie-pop so all has been forgiven in the meantime. Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin (or SSLYBY for short) are currently on their European tour which includes dates in Belfast on the 15th of September with a Dublin date in Kennedys, Westland Row on the following night, the 16th. Tickets are priced €12 including booking fee but we have [...]

The few of you who follow the Indie Music scene in Hungary may already know that The Gababeat formed from the band Gabor13. The Gababeat For those of you who don't, may we introduce the band The Gababeat, from Pécs in Hungary with their first released song, Crazy, and the promise of more to follow. They have a stripped back sound, and a traditional 12 bar structure to this song, and references to 70s German progressive music. Krisztina's vocals soar over the [...]
Carl Sandburg once wrote of Chicago, "They tell me you are wicked and I believe them," but that wasn't necessarily a dis. The storied poet and historian subsequently breaks down a laundry list of Windy City malfeasance, only to boldly proclaim, "Come and show me another city with lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning." It's a perspective shared by the fiery young South Siders of Flatfoot 56, but the boys go one better than unyielding urban pride. On their second Flicker Records' full-length Jungle [...]
Lets start off by referring to this band by the initials SSLYBY, as I like to keep my posts reasonable in word count. It's often a name that initially seizes the attention of music lovers, but it's the simple and infectious hooks that turn them into fans. Despite the name, this is a bright fluffy gem of modern indie pop. Opening with the catchy "Glue Girls" it has equal touches of New Pornographers, Belle and Sebastian, and the Shins. "Boring Fountain" is anything but, with a mesmerizing break full of bass and guitar goodness. Then, "Dead Right" flows along with [...]

Springfield, MO's Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin have posted a new video for their new song "Think I Wanna Die." The song comes from their brand new album, Pershing , which was released April 8th, 2008. The video was directed by Grammy nominee Israel Anthem and features the ladies from the band Eisley .
If this song reminds you of Oh, Inverted World -era Shins , it should. If you're thinking it's just as good or gasp! better, hey, I'm not going to argue with you. Or with the band's fascination with short-haired girls. In related news, You Ain't No Picasso has an excellent My First Time interview with Boris & Co. Pershing is out today . Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin's new record, Pershing, is out in stores tomorrow. I love this song, (I tend to love what these guys do,) and I love this video, featuring some members of Eisley as the lads' menacing love interests. These guys have a demonstrative skill for creating polished melodic songs that are truly timeless. Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin - Think I Wanna Die
