Check out this video for David Ford's Go To Hell - Recorded live in one take: Thanks to Mel for pointing me to this little bit of awesome.

David Ford. The leader of the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland. Or. A British singer-songwriter who strongly reminds me of James Blunt (I'm surprised VH1 hasn't done a "You Should Know" on him, as well). Formerly a part of the now disbanded group, Easyworld, Ford went solo in 2005. In 2007 he released Songs For The Road , a heartfelt compilation of poppy folk that would fit nicely in the background of an episode of Grey's or a somber scene of Weeds . Ridden with passion and sincerity, Ford's voice is the highlight of [...]

On Saturday night I was able to check out a dynamic duo of artists: David Ford and Ingrid Michaelson . I'd been looking forward to the show ever since finding out about it as I sincerely enjoy both of their musical output. David's latest album, Songs For the Road - which came out earlier this year, is a brilliant album that I had every intention of writing about but somehow didn't. It's his second solo effort, and while only nine tracks, is worth every penny (be it American or British, as he hails [...]

A couple of David Ford vids for you. The first is the recent 'I'm Alright Now', while the second is 'My Sweet Indecision (Go To Hell) which is a one take effort with David playing every instrument himself and then layering it in. Knives, forks, salt shakers...everything is an instrument, nothing is safe. Very cool. I'm [...]
So I was all excited, thinking I was going to get to invent myself a word today, when I came to find out that the word in question was, in fact, already a word. How much of a complete bummer is that? Yeah, I agree. The word I got all worked up over is "looper." It always skips my mind that things like sewing machines and other various looping things exist, thus forming a need for this type of word before the musically-inclined have need of it. The first definition I found of "looper" could [...]
David Ford must really like Philly. For what seems like the hundredth time in the past two months, he is gracing the World Cafe with his presence. If you missed him all the other times or just want to see him again, here's your chance, plus most of the college kids are gone, so less crowd. mp3: Go To Hell Ladytron and Datarock join forces to [...]
Heralded by Rolling Stone, The Los Angeles Times, Elle, and moving The New York Times to write, "Like Damien Rice and Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, Mr. Ford builds stately, inexorable crescendos..." David Ford follows up his his acclaimed debut, I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused with Songs For The Road. From the opening strings of blackened-heart-on-a-sleeve first single " Go To Hell " to the tender, mournful pedal steel of " …And So You Fell ," it's clear Ford – with his open-throated, raspy howl – is not [...]
So you may recall the other day when I posted some tracks from a local band, Test Planet . I had no idea what happened that fine band, but lucky for me (and all of you), the drummer of the band, Jason Valentine, found ME. This is the comment he left on the post: "Hi, I played drums for Test Planet . I remember that show with Planet 12. Our last show was in 2003 or 04 sometime at Ruby Tuesday on Summit. Jay (singer/bass) lives in [...]

Ever walk into your kitchen studio sans pants to cook some breakfast with no hog, and the water heater makes a hott sound? But then you just go with it? Tap fork + knife, beat on the breakfast bongo, slurp coffee, pick up the breakfast mike and lay it down for all the julies? Holla at your boy D. Ford .
David Ford is a wondrous gem of evocative, soul-wrenching music-- and last week, we sent the illustrious Belinda over to check him out at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, while we interviewed him from London. Here's what Bel had to say about his show: David Ford is an artist. I don't heft those words around carelessly, I liked his stuff recorded but being at his live show is like watching Picasso paint. If Picasso could pull pigments from thin air and weave them in and around your heart. [...]
Regardless of vain lists and such, in terms of songwriting and passion, David Ford's Songs for the Road was probably last year's finest and most likely to stand the test of time. http://www.davidford.mu/ http://www.myspace.com/davidfo rd http://www.independiente.co.uk /
