Let's be honest. Valentine's Day is a very hit or miss holiday. There's those that love everything about it, and count down the days until they will be serenaded by their lover . And then there's the majority of people that hate the holiday as it can only remind them of how lonely they are, watching couples holding hands in disgust. As for me, I fall into the category of indifference. It's a nice holiday, but I don't really give much of a shit. Nevertheless, I get all giddy with the opportunity of putting [...]

The band Eels (the long-running project of Mark Oliver Everett) have plotted a tour (their first since 2008) that will travel to Australia, Europe and - in September and October - North America. The trip reaches NYC on Saturday, September 25th for a show at Terminal 5 . Tickets go on sale Friday, June 11th, at noon. The kick off for the tour is a warm-up show in Santa Ana, California, on August 3rd. Its last date is an L.A. show on October 12th. The [...]

A beaten old man who may surprise the world with his emotional/folk songs that reflects a man who continues to fail at love or let love in. Mark Oliver Everett (aka 'E') does it again with their latest release, End Times . This album is an odd mix of live sounding vocals with acoustic guitar and an occasional full band to spice up what makes anyone feel like drowning in a puddle of sorrow. 'E' is known for singing his experiences and feelings and this album correlates exactly that. 'A line in the dirt' is [...]
O novo disco dos Eels, End Times, será posto à venda na próxima semana, sendo considerado um dos melhores da banda. Entretanto, pode ver e ouvir o primeiro teledisco com o tema Little Bird.

It had been four years between Eels' 2005 release Blinking Lights And Other Revelations and 2009's Hombre Lobo . Mark Oliver Everett had taken some time to write a book, travel the globe (a few times) and make a documentary about his father. Six short months after Hombre Lobo , however, the songwriter behind the Eels moniker is back with End Times , the most personal album since Electro-Shock Blues that dealt with the death of his mother, father and sister. Everett is no stranger to loss. With the tragedy he's [...]

Eels have done it again and will be releasing his eighth album on January 19. I was really surprised to hear this when he just released an album last summer. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the album a little early. Over the years, I haven't been a very [...]
2010 is approaching soon. Twelve new months full of brand new music, from old veterans, young bands and complete upcomers. Just to go up-to-date on what's happening with the artists that pleasure Flint's tastebuds, it's time to give a little checkaround to 2010's possible offers by artists I'm intrigued about. Rumours, confirmed news, it's all here. Not keen on the artists I display? Give a sly prod at the other writers, maybe they'll reveal their musical stalking results as well? After the cut, a big list of various names. [...]
Filed under: The Hit List This year has been fantastic for well-established superstars, but the year also saw more eclectic singles bubble up and find mainstream success. A number of indie bands struck a chord with weird yet accessible tunes. At the same time, several artists who have been kicking around for a while worked up songs that drew from their past but somehow managed to feel fresh. And that's what it's about, really: staying ahead of the curve while keeping in mind the past. Here's our list of the 25 best songs [...]
Freilich: the END TIMES he speaks of isn't about „Mayan calendar conspiracy theory bullshit," he says, but, „the state of the desperate times we [...]
If there was a checklist for Eels archetypes, "Little Bird", the first track to see the light of day from the band's forthcoming LP End Times, would fill up more check boxes than just about any other song that E has penned. A simple, delicately strummed melody with a capo at the fifth fret? Check. Direct appeals to God? Check. An avian-centric narrative? Check. Gratuitous use of the word "goddamn"? Check. Pining for a lost...
