It's based on the true story of Bernie Tiede, who kills the rich widow he's caring for in small town Carthage, Texas. The Very Best exploded onto the scene a couple of years ago with their spectacular mix of African pop and day-glo European electronica; an excellent crossover group if there ever was one. Vocalist Esau Mwamwaya's soaring voice takes front-and-center and would be a welcome addition to any genre, yet it's ex-Radio Clit frontman Johan Hugo's happy-go-lucky production that makes Esau sound like he'd be right at home filling stadiums fronting for U2, let alone The Very Best . They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And while that holds true in most cases, it can also be the sincerest form of hatery if done mockingly enough. Although I think in the case of The Very Best and their nod to Lil' Wayne's " A Milli " video, the former is most likely true seeing the playfulness of their take.
