Here's your introduction to MICAH rock, my admittedly cheesy acronym for music that has, at one time or another, been defined as modern, indie, college, alternative, and hipster music. That collective gasp when Arcade Fire's The Suburbs snagged the Album of the Year prize at the 2011 Grammys was not just the sound of middle America murmuring "Who?" It was also the crestfallen sigh of the hipster nation, aghast that another of its warriors had succumbed to the dark side. It was yet another lost battle to keep underground music where it belonged - in the hands of teens [...]
Unlike some of the other Oxegen 2010 previews, I'm not just going to list 5 or so artists to check out, I'm going to tell you who to see and at what times over the entire weekend. Here's Part 1: Friday, 9th July 2010. All times are approximate. Check the full schedule below for exact [...]

Udenlandske 1. Vampire [...]
The holiday season is upon us, which for any self-respecting music writer means making end-of-the-year lists. I, like many a blogger, live for this kind of year-end reflection, so this will be the first of many lists. Here before you are the absolute 25 best music videos of the year 2008 . All the videos are embedded below for easy viewing, but I highly recommend you watch the higher quality version, which you can view (if available) by clicking on the song title. Except for the five at the end (the best of [...]
"This Feels So Unnatural. Peter Gabriel Too!" Kwassa Kwassa! Here is their Video for Oxford Comma (in case you missed it!): =From One, *Haute Mess*
c'mon people, they're making america cool again. Say what you will about Vampire Weekend , but their debut album was nothing short of amazing, and in my opinion they sound great live. New video out for their single Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa . Let's take time reflect on their three official music vids so far... A-Punk interesting video direction. stop motion? maybe. i'm not a director. i dig the underwater chorus [...]
Don't worry, I'm not about to take another big break just yet! I've got a handful of new singles from indie artists on my regularly-updated personal hits playlist to share. To clarify, when I say "indie" I don't mean whatever the web's biggest bloggers and Berkeley's (or anywhere's) resident hipsters consider cool for this week, since I clearly pay little attention to that (sorry, classmates, you're not as cool as you think!). By indie I just mean artists who are signed to independent labels, which is true for all five of tonight's featured performers. One of my first purchases [...]
The poor oxford comma gets the shaft at my place of employ and it makes me sad. The long take is the Oxford comma of the film vernacular.
NEW VIDEO: OXFORD COMMA NEW YORK, NY: I have yet to say a word ( not a solitary peep ) about 2008 blog band Vampire Weekend - and decided to give the NYC trend-setters a mention today after I gave their CD a listen over the long holiday weekend. Their music isn't awe-inspiring nor is it life-changing, but it is light-hearted (perfect for some listening - certainly great for a drive in the car) and - overall, most entertaining. RSL [...]
DevotchKa VS Vampire Weekend Today I am going to give the chance for Devotchka and Vampire Weekend to fight!!.. Who Will Win? Devotchka is an all american band from Colorado. I first hear their songs from an indie film starring Steve Carrell , Little Miss Sunshine. I thought the soundtrack was great and decided to find out which band was playing in the soundtrack. Hearing the name of the band makes me think that they are some [...]
Has it been a year already? Last summer, the staff and I put together this amazing piece celebrating the diverse array of record labels that we support and loved called "Happy Independents Day." This year, we've revisit those that made the cut and mourn those that are no longer with us ( R.I.P. TVT ), so come join myself and the staff of Radio Exile as we celebrate "Independents" Day! Happy Independents Day! It's always nice to get a day off in the middle of the working [...]
this is my second attempt to post from berlin. while berlin is full of bacchanalia and late night dj sets, i've only seen a few local bands play here, and not for lack of trying, but rather for lack of expendable income. my musical memories of berlin have been forged by the few live shows i got to see, 100,6 motor fm - my ersatz-wrmc if you will, and lots and lots of viva and german mtv. why do i love german mtv and viva so much? let me count the ways [...]
Here's the video for Vampire Weekend's Oxford Comma , one of our favorite tracks from their self-titled debut album. Apparently the video was shot in one take. Nothing too innovative visually, but then again we're not exactly sure what's going on. It's a nice video. (and in terms of the song, our favorite lyric is " First the window, then it's to the wall/ Lil' Jon, he always tells the truth ")
Another Friday, another installment of FNMTV starring our pal Pete Wentz . This week, there are mysteriously only three new videos (T.I., No Age, and Day 26) to go with two live performances (Rihanna and Maroon 5 featuring Rihanna). I wondered what effect the program had on the number of videos played on MTV, and there's good and bad news. The good (?) news: MTV is certainly devoting a larger amount of its airtime to music videos. The bad news: I hope you like Boys Like Girls. [...]
I would have liked to of posted this video last week but MTV are truly embracing the concept of the internet by restricting videos to certain regions. Pricks Anyway, it's quite a nice, one take video, like their music it has a certain Wes Anderson vibe to it. Interesting fact: It was directed by Richard Ayoade of IT crowd, Nathan Barley and Time Trumpet fame.
