Maxïmo Park are an indie rock band hailing from various towns in North East England. Consisting of Paul Smith (vocals), Duncan Lloyd (guitar), Archis Tiku (bass guitar), Tom English (drums) and Lukas Wooller (keyboards), they have drawn comparisons to Northeastern counterparts The Futureheads , as well as Franz Ferdinand , Pulp and Bloc Party for their addictive musical style and direct, edgy rock-pop sound. This week State packs its bags and jets off to France to attend Europavox , a neat little music festival taking place in the town of Clermont-Ferrand. Now in its fourth year, the festival manifests itself as a series of concerts held in venues around Clermont and the surrounding area to showcase the finest European musical talent. And if that wasn't enough, Europavox also plays host to an industry convention, where indie music execs from across the continent get together to wheel and deal. New, noteworthy, forthcoming, etc. There's been an astonishing amount of new music released in the past few weeks, so I've written my longest blog post ever in an attempt to make sense of (some of) it all. "Daniel" by Bat for Lashes (a.k.a. Natasha Khan) is my favorite song of the moment. Pas le premier extrait puisque c'était Wraithlike (ci-dessous), mais bien le premier single de 'Quicken The Heart', nouvel album des anglais de Maximo Park; et effectivement ce titre est aussi efficace et puissant en diable qu'un bon premier single. Maximo Park has a new album out next month called Quicken The Heart , and they've just put out a video for the single, "The Kids Are Sick Again". Here 'tis: Their website lists a ton of live dates for Europe, but none yet for the States. Fingers crossed.
