Qualche giorno fa vi ho dato la notizia che starebbe (starebbe, condizionale obbligatorio) finalmente per uscire il nuovo disco di Dr. Dre (Detox) atteso da ormai dieci anni. La prova è il nuovo pezzo del "dottore" con Jay-Z. Quella notizia mi ha portato a riascoltarmi con un po' di nostalgia alcuni dei primi dischi di Dre, oltre agli storici N.W.A. (Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Dj Yella) con cui Dre inventò il gangsta-rap, mi sono riascoltato quel capolavorone che è The Chronic del 1992; il disco con cui Dre impose il suono West Coast [...]

One of my, shall we say, "quirkier" presents this past Christmas was a t-shirt with the legend "Bitches Ain't Shit" emblazoned across it (see right). Aside from the fact that I work in an office full of women (making it off limits for daywear) and feel a bit old for hip-hop sloganeering, even of the ironic variety, it was a most thoughtful gift.

Ben Folds kommt nicht oft rüber nach Europa. Nach ein paar Konzerten Ende der Neunziger gelang es erst 2005 mittels einer Online-Petition, ihn zumindest für zwei Auftritte nach Deutschland zu locken. Jetzt stehen wieder ein paar seiner raren Gigs an, z.B. am Freitag in der Münchner Muffathalle. Dass die Auftritte von Ben Folds durchaus ein Erlebnis [...]
