After spending 2009 amassing buzz and goodwill, the LA quintet's impressive debut is finally being released in the US. The US release of Gorilla Manor, the debut LP from the LA quintet Local Natives, has been a long time coming. The album itself was recorded over a year ago and the band spent much of 2009 building word-of-mouth buzz and working to secure a record deal the old-fashioned way: by being a stellar live band. I previously brought you the debut single from the debut album by Local Natives . And now a little more than a month later, we get the debut of the first video from "Gorilla Manor", and it's for another one of the LP's best cuts, "Airplanes." Another band we've been hearing lots of talk about is Silver Lake five piece Local Natives , whose album Gorilla Manor comes out February 16th. Gorilla Manor was recorded by Raymond Richards in West Los Angeles who produced the record with Local Natives in his own Red Rockets Glare Studio. So many LA bands just making cool music again. They couldn't have been any nicer and we're happy to announce that they are releasing their debut on Feb. 16 courtesy of Frenchkiss Records. Right from the start of Californian quintet Local Natives ' debut, it's clear that this is something special. Gently melodic guitar is joined by a ridiculously insistent drum-beat for all of 39 seconds, before Taylor Rice's dreamy vocals enter the fray: " Oh some evil spirit/ Oh some evil this way comes/ They told me how to to fear it/ Now they're placing it on their tongues ". Yes its true, this Friday at the Biltmore. A lot has happened to the band since they made their first trip up to Canada to play one of the very first No More Strangers. They have been blowing up. They have just released their debut lp Gorilla Manor and have toured North America and Europe, played with Peter Bjorn and Grizzly Bear, are currently a featured itunes artist.
