Shara Worden, the mastermind behind My Brightest Diamond, is 2006's––or the 21st century's––answer to the rugged, creepy beauty only a few artists in the '90s or earlier delivered. Listening to her album Bring Me The Workhorse, which should have been included on my 2006 Best Of , reminds me of Tori Amos and Jeff Buckley , two of my favorite artists o.a.t. Her soaring, melodically senseless vocal reaches are like Buckley's, and the discernible subject matter of confusion, loss and romance, is similar.
