Each year, we've posted our top ten albums of the previous year. 2010 was a particularly good year for music and for TDOA. Thanks to the bands, the labels, the promoters and most of all....the readers. This year we're presenting individual lists from the three main contributors to the site. Each brings their own tastes and we think you'll enjoy each of them. Todd - Editor/Writer 01 Sleigh Bells- Treats Purchase it via iTunes or Amazon [...]

If you're like me you get mildly annoyed when two good bands head through town on the same night. Luckily tonight you can head over to Vintage Vinyl and catch Blitzen Trapper's In-Store at 6pm (they're playing Off Broadway tonight - show at 8pm ) and head over to the Firebird to catch Delta Spirit (pictured above) get crazy. See Monday isn't so bad. [...]

DOWNLOAD: Delta Spirit - Bushwick Blues (MP3) San Diego's Delta Spirit are set to release their sophomore album History From Below via Rounder Records on June 8th. Already one of my favorite albums of the year, I couldn't be happier that they let me debut track number two, "Bushwick Blues" on, appropriately, "Brooklyn Vegan". Like many of their soulful indie-Americana songs, "Bushwick Blues" tells a moving story of love and loss. More specifically it tell the story [...]

I am so excited for Delta Spirit's new album, History from Below, coming out June 8th. So far a few songs have been (unintentionally?) leaked on the internet and you can get "Bushwick Blues" and "911" if you want to search for them, but I'm pretty sure they are there illegally so you can listen to "Bushwick Blues" on their myspace . While you are there you can check out their tour dates for this summer, it's pretty extensive. They will make an appearance at the Middle East (Cambridge, MA) on June 28th, I will [...]
Eagerly anticipated History From Below from San Diego indie roots-rockers Delta Spirit (June 8, Rounder) is a triumphant, occasionally blistering affirmation of the band's growing critical cred, a larger-than-life, swaggering reminder of the soulful and redemptive nature of the best, most authentic American-bred rock and roll. Full of stomping, revival-styled passion, History was produced by My Morning Jacket keyboardist Bo Koster and Eli Thomson with a well-tuned ear for capturing the band's frenetic energy, a high-octane thrust that can build a hushed whisper to full-throated roar in the course of one song -- sometimes [...]
One of my favorite records of 2008 was Delta Spirit 's Ode To Sunshine. A little bit punk rock, a touch folk and all raspy soul, the San Diego band has the ability to channel the Walkmen one minute ("Strange Vine") and a southern gospel group the next ("Trashcan"). Led by the wordy and charismatic singer Matt Vasquez, the band is now set to return with their sophomore full-length, History From Below , on June 8th. Above, you can preview "Bushwick Blues"—recorded at last year's SXSW—from the new album. [...]
