Who doesn’t love a music festival, right? It’s all the best parts of a concert–music, friends, alcohol and drugs…just lots and lots more of them! Each year, more and more of them are popping up all over the place. As you probably already know, one of the most popular fests each year is Austin City Limits . And it has to be one of the most incredible line ups this year–hell, maybe even one of the best ever! We’re talking about The Red Hot Chili Peppers , Iggy & The Stooges , [...]

Minneapolis synth act Poliça have released a video for their latest single, “Lay Your Cards Out”. Man, Channy Leaneagh can seduce the hell out of with her slow moves and distorted vocals. This is from their April-released record, Give You The Ghost . The single will officially be out November 5th via Memphis Industries.

Lauded by Bon Iver as the best band ever, Minneapolis electro popsters Poliça are twisting their sound into a new reality. What chew talkin bout Channy Leaneagh? Bowlegs: You manipulate your vocal sound, maybe it’s most definitive component. Does the effect of hearing your voice via effects free you up in terms of expression? Or is the effecting a purely post production thing? CL: The effecting happens in the songwriting stage. It is a part of my voice from start to finish in Poliça (minus the pre-pre work which [...]

Během jednoho měsíce mezi červnem a červencem 2011 vzniklo debutové album Give Your The Ghost , které vydali u Memphis Industries 30. dubna tohoto roku. Hrají podmanivou směs electropopu obsahující důkladné aranže, občas [...]
I am amazed by the amount of the amount of dust that I'm still finding in places after Outside Lands this year... Yes, it was good fun, but it's time to enjoy some music indoors, over concrete. And, well, we've got a wonderful week of excellent music on our docket. Thursday, August 16th Cherry Poppin' [...]

Lollapalooza is back with a line-up that's full of up-and-coming local acts, legitimate buzz bands, arena rockers and a few head scratchers. So, we here at Loud Loop figured you might need some help deciding which bands to check out and which to avoid. And of course you know the Black Sabbath, The Black Keys and the Chili Peppers, so we won't waste your time on them. Instead, these are our picks for can't-miss acts those other eight hours this Friday, Saturday and Sunday... [...]
Bon Iver's Justin Vernon was recently tripping over himself to name POLICA (pronounced Poe-lisa) one of 20122s secret treasures. "They're the best band I've ever heard," he said. Channy Leaneagh (pictured above) leads the Minneapolis experiment, which started as her exit and escape from a reality where she had just suffered a divorce AND left her old [...]

Polica are making a quick (and smart) turnaround appearance to Philly after their sold-out show at Kung Fu Necktie last Saturday night. The band plays Johnny Brendas on May 16th. Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 30th, at noon here. The band's show at Kung Fu Necktie was fantatsic. Front woman Channy Leaneagh is every ... Continue reading

Just discovered the POLICA thnx to a work colleague. If you're a fan of 60bpms then you must the beauty that is LAY YOUR CARDS OUT right now. Thnx.
The VPME Poliça are a formed around the artistic nucleus of Channy Casselle and Ryan Olson, two members of a Minneapolis collective known as Gayngs. Much play has been made with regard to the synthetic manipulation of Ms Casselle's voice, but this isn't employed to mask vocal defects, as she clearly has a wonderful voice, more to imbue the overall feel of " Lay Your Cards Out" with an atmospheric, other worldly sound. Indeed instead of stripping emotion from the vocal performance it merely adds to the celestial, dream-like beauty and leaves one with the feeling of having been [...]

Today was by far and away the best SXSW day. In and amongst performances from the likes of THEEsatisfaction and Eleanor Friedbegrer, a surprise appearance from Tom Morello and constant sightings of Bill Murray I managed to see a whopping 17 performances from noon until well gone midnight. Poliça Getting up early and trekking to the other side of the highway I find ex- Gayngs singer Channy Leaneagh and Ryan Olson's new project Poliça playing at Brooklyn [...]
Tweet vaso link I really, really enjoy Wikipedia. I often find myself aimless wandering about through the dusty (or at least I tell myself it is dusty, so that it feels like an ancient library) channels and hallways of the online encyclopaedia. (And if you have never tried this, I dare you to give it a shot. Just go the the main page of the site, click random and then read. You never know where you might end up and you never know what you could [...]
I really don't know how to describe Polica's music. This Minnesota alternative band is real hot, has huge breakout potential among the indie/hipster crowd and I'm seriously disappointed in myself for not seeing them live last night at Bootleg Theater in LA. Shout out to @JDBabbit27 for sending me Polica's stuff and shout out to [...]

POLIÇA (pronounced Poelisa) is a Minneapolis-based four piece band that recently came together when Channy Leaneagh and Ryan Olson (from Gayngs) started collaborating on tour and in the studio. I've seen a bunch of buzz on the social networks, blogs, WVUM, industry sites and friends in other cities have called me just to tell me how awesome their live shows are. Funny thing is they really haven't been around for too long, but all the attention is well deserved! According to Rolling Stone Bon Iver even publicly announced that they're the best band he's ever heard - whoa. I [...]

This time last year, Polica didn't exist. Now the Minneapolis-based band finds itself garnering praise from a Grammy winner. In a Rolling Stone interview following his win for Best New Artist, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon name-checked the psychedelic R&B outfit as a band for which he’s head over heels. "They're the best band I've ever heard," he said. Give You the Ghost is out February 14th on Totally Gross National Product Read more »

( Monday Music’s the one weekly blog where SOIWT abandons its London-only focus, and goes global ) RM Hubbert - Sunbeam Melts the Hour (Feat. Marion Kenny & Hanna Tuulikki) Kicking off with swaggering, staggering plucks of a rusty ol' guitar, this could easily be the soundtrack to a violent, slow-motion section in a western, the scene where we see a portrait of domestic happiness which will inevitably get smashed up. The punch-drunk, whiskeyed feel is spellbinding - and appropriate, since Hubbert is a bleary Scot. [...]
