On the heels of his second Food & Liquor II release earlier this week in "Bitch Bad" , the Chi-town intellectual brings the vid for his initial drop "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)" . This track's awesome, no matter how much beef Pete Rock may have with the heavy use of the classic TROY sample - and it's nice to see Lupe take the visuals back to his native streets.

We told you back in May that Lupe Fiasco shot a video for "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)" .  The song, which is the first single from Lupe's forthcoming LP Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Part 1 ,  drew a lot of attention after Pete Rock spoke out against Lupe sampling his classic "T.R.O.Y.".  I think that the Pete Rock situation took away from the actual song, which I feel got a bad rap (no pun intended).  Lupe's message on the record and his lyrical dexterity are exactly what Lupe fans want, and [...]

So now that all the "Fiasco" (pun intended) between Lupe and Pete Rock as died down...is time to sit back and enjoy this EXCELLENT first single, off Lupe's upcoming album "Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Part 13 .  In true Lupe Fiasco style, the video is full of subliminal messages, ready to be deciphered but the most hardcore fans. Lupe takes it back to Chicago for the "Around My Way" visuals directed by Alex Nazari. F&L2: The Great American Rap Album due in stores on September 25.

Screw the drama, this is a pretty cool video. Directed by Alex Nazari, Lupe uses animation and fancy cars to show how far he has come since his debut LP. For better, or for worse.  Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album  is due out Sept. 25.
