The New York DJ crafts a killer mash-up.

“Overplayed songs” and “songs that are crimes against humanity” aren't necessari ly the same thing. When you listen to the radio as much as I do, one thing that’s inevitable every year is your radio taking a few songs that you love, exposing them to room temperature too long, and making them stale. Take Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” which earned honest consideration for my forthcoming list of Most Overplayed Songs of 2011 before falling just short. It’s a great song. Adele’s a fantastic vocalist. “Rolling in the Deep” was 2011’s deserved flagship song, and Billboard’s #1 single of the year… [...]

Here come the heavy-hitters. 5. Pumped Up Kicks - Foster The People Back in March, I described this as 'music to wander around Shoreditch in the sunshine, mingling with hipsters'. I may as well have said ' super-enormo big f**k off global hit in the making ' as quite apart from it's FIFTY-FIVE MILLION YouTube views, since Sept 2010 it's moved stealthily from the blogs to the Grown Up Charts. Everywhere. The convoluted stories behind some of these tracks often add something to the enjoyment of [...]
Yeah Yeah...everyone has their year end Best of 2011 lists.andnbsp; Whoop-dee-fucking-doo.andnbsp; Like that is such a mind blowing piece of journalism. Really?andnbsp; Adele and Kanye/Jay-Z and Drake and T
This year has been an incredible year for music, both in our homeland and abroad. Here's a list of my personal favourite releases of the last twelve months. These are the albums that, at one time or another (or constantly!), gave me solace and smiles in 2012. 30. Austra - Feel It Break 29. Beirut - The Rip Tide [...]

Today's GOOD is a year's worth of guilty pleasures. I wouldn't necessarily say I like all of these songs, but I can't help but pay attention when I hear them. And to be honest, if some of these songs weren't so overplayed, they would probably be legitimate favorites. What were your guilty pleasures this year? ♪ Foster The People -- Pumped Up Kicks (from Torches ) www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDTZ7i X4vTQ [...]
The Indiecision ’11 is a recap of the year gone by in Indian indie and a recognition of the work of its artists and those involved with the creation and promotion of the music. The Best Song International is the best song released by an international artist from a debut album released in 2011. '2122 Azealia Banks Here is a grimey dance tune that takes ‘grime’ to heart. Azealia Banks is a pied-piper, charming you with her [...]
20 - Foster the people - Torches Duas palavras que definem bem o efeito Foster The People em 2011: Amplitude e abrangência.

Next up is Becki B. She's the Editor and Founder of the superb OhDearyMe.com . Over to you Becki. My favourite albums of 2011. It seems a little unfair to choose just 5. How am I supposed to do that? It's impossible....! IMPOSSIBLE. For many reasons.. a) I haven't yet listened to every band that have released an album in 2011 (yet) b) 2011 has not finished yet.. what if a band releases an epic album on Dec 31st???? c) I like different music for many different reasons. I [...]
Let's go back in time: Lykke Li: "I Follow Rivers" Is it love, lust or infatuation? Lykke Li goes on a relentless pursuit of a man in this video, running in her bare feet through the snow while the dark tune looms in the background. Amazing song, kick-ass video. I love the part where she shoots an icy, cold glare at the viewer. Feist: "1234" [...]

A preview of bands to check out at the POPPED Music Festival taking place September 23rd and 24th in Philadelphia.
As summer nears its sputtering end, the time seems right for our annual rite of passage: I will listen to all of Billboard's Top 40 pop songs consecutively, counting down from 40 to 1. A wise young prince once said ... Continue reading
It's that time again of year again. Summer is over, school has already started again for most, and of course that all means it's time once again for the annual MTV Video Music Awards . Since our focus is Indie music here on the site, here is a break down of the nominations for this year's Best New Artist category: Foster The People This Los Angeles based band has been on a steady stream of what seems like non [...]

Some call it the "Oscars for youth," but realistically, the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) feel more like crack for gossipers. Controversy! Chaos! Glam! Anything can happen. It used to be waiting anxiously for Madonna's next "big move," whether it was her flashing some ass or offering some tongue. (Gross? Hardly.) Nowadays, it's more about who's going to screw up, what will be the grand upset, and, admittedly, who's going to be the next "Kanye." Keywords, people: sex and drama. But that's always been the case with the VMAs. Wait, you don't actually think it's a special award? [...]
