I am going to start off with the Best of 2010: Singles. There has been great songs in 2010. I am going to based the singles from the Singles Chart on this site. You might find some of the mainstream singles kind of lower in the list. But its not about what is popular just as long they are on the 2010 list. There will be five Glee tracks in the Top 50 (I know you might like or dislike this but its been a phenomenon). Here are the singles from #41-#50 [...]
For now, at least, the National have put aside the fireworks of their younger days; luckily, High Violet is such a stirring take on the perils of grown-up life that it's easy not to miss them. One of the signs of a great band is that their weaknesses, while just as present as in their less satisfying contemporaries, still kind of work for them. It's true that most song lyrics lie rather flat on the page, but if I told you that one of the things I want to praise about High Violet was the lyrics and [...]
First of all let me just say that I am spent. That Xavier/Kansas State tilt last night (plus some wonderful beverages from New Glarus ) kept me from getting the restful slumber I need to adequately dance my fingers along the keyboard and produce the stunning prose that have garnered me the double-digit readership I have today. So enough with the pleasantries. Here's a new track from The National off their upcoming LP High Violet (out [...]

As detailed a week or so ago ( here ), The National are a mere two months away from releasing the follow up to 2007’s Boxer . Up until recently there was little from High Violet to get stuck into - despite the fact that the band have been playing Runaway live for almost a year now – but with the group’s appearance on U.S talk show Late Nigh With Jimmy Fallon yesterday that all changed. So here it is, a stop-you-in-your-tracks rendition of High Violet’s opening track Terrible Love [...]

The internet was chattering big time yesterday after Cincinnati ex-pats The National made a big announcement. The guys have a new album and announced a handful of tour dates to go along with it. Since The National are one of our favorite bands of the past decade, we are pretty excited about the follow up to Boxer this May and wanted to not only let you know, but do a little speculating as well. We speculated last year about the new record, but now that the date has been [...]

Another week, another video I've somehow never posted. This is getting ridiculous. I know how much you all live and breathe every word I say (type), you know? What's that? Shut up, you say? I'm not that important, you say? Well, ha! Tell that to my supportive mother ! A little while ago, The National (a favorite of mine) played a new song, tentatively titled "The Runaway," on Q TV. For any fans of the band, this is pretty much perfect. I was watching some live Okkervil River videos before I re-stumbled upon this gem, and as [...]
2010 is approaching soon. Twelve new months full of brand new music, from old veterans, young bands and complete upcomers. Just to go up-to-date on what's happening with the artists that pleasure Flint's tastebuds, it's time to give a little checkaround to 2010's possible offers by artists I'm intrigued about. Rumours, confirmed news, it's all here. Not keen on the artists I display? Give a sly prod at the other writers, maybe they'll reveal their musical stalking results as well? After the cut, a big list of various names. [...]
This video of the National performing a new song titled Runaway on Q TV has been out there for awhile, but is definitely worth checking out if you missed it the last time it was making the rounds. It has me pretty excited for their next album: MP3: The National - Runaway (Live on Q TV)

Wonderful new National tracked titled The Runway has arrived on youtube via Q TV. It's graceful, aching, hushed, whisky bruised and deep rooted in melancholy. I can’t wait for the new LP on the back of this. The fragile beauty of the track looks like it’s going to be a classic! www.highwayfive.blogspot.com
A new slow jam, tentatively called "The Runaway" via Q TV.
The above video of a song that seems to be called "Runaway" recently appeared on Canadian TV. [HT: IAFYAF] NPR is now streaming the most of the "Dark Was the Night" concert that was held in New York last month, where they performed a new song titled "Vanderlylle Cry Baby." Youtube also has a bevy of fan [...]

The National hasn't put out a full album since 2007's "The Boxer." But the band is rolling out new songs live. Here are a couple of new videos for "The Runaway" and "Vanderlylle Cry Baby." Also, check out the song, "Blood Buzz Ohio," here .
Os The National interpretaram um novo tema na sua passagem pela Q TV. A canção, ainda sem nome, é esta:

The National perform a new song, tentatively titled "The Runaway," on Q TV.
Still trying to get caught up after an extended Memorial Day weekend, here's the latest offering from The National , tentatively titled "The Runaway", which the band performed last week at CBC's Studio Q in Toronto. The song is to appear on The National's yet-to-be titled forthcoming album (and follow-up to the band's critically praised 2007 release Boxer) . No official release date has been announced for the new album but it is expected either late this year or in early 2010.
The National traveled north of the border and dropped in on Canada's Studio Q recently. They played a few tracks including this new one. Given my absolute love for both Alligator & Boxer, I really can't wait for a new record. The National - Runaway (mp3 rip from video)

The National "Fake Empire" has to be on of my favorite tracks of 2008 if not all time. I love The Runaway-The National (new) The National-The Runaway The National - Blood Buzz Ohio (Live In Boston) I can't wait to hear more of their gorgeous and eloquent new music.
