Here's the first one off the new Bloc Party fresh off the presses? What are you impressions are Intimacy and Kele's solo excursions? It certainly has some of the hallmarks of early Bloc Party with some of the experimental bits from their last album. Intrigued to hear what the whole thing sounds like! Bloc Party have been missing in action for some time now - Four years actually, which makes the new album title very fitting. 'Four' will be released August 21st, and will be the bands fourth studio album. Hear the first track from the album 'Octopus' below.

The Spector album ain't even dropped yet, but it already feels like 2005 again. Today, not only have we welcomed back Brandon F and his Killers, but Kele O and his Blocs have too landed safely home with NEW, ACTUAL MUSIC for the first time in a whole decade. And they're back......My lord. Bloc Party have released their first single in three years named "Octopus" and I have to say that it's definitely been worth the wait. It's a colourful track with the habitual bloc party drumming, guitaring and kele vocals! After having their time apart working on their respective solo projects, the new album Four is set for release on the 20th of August this year. I imagine that we are in for a heavy set list of new tracks come the end of this month at Splendour [...]

Octopus is the first single from Bloc Party's fourth studio album which is appropriately titled Four . It is released on 19th August in the UK & 21st August in the US. You can Pre-Order Four now on iTunes UK & iTunes US . Video directed by Nova Dando.

On August 21, Bloc Party will break their four-year hiatus with the release of a new record,  Four . The band's just debuted the first single "Octopus," by way of a jumpy new video directed by  Nova Dando , which is wrought with blink-and-you-miss-it flash frames and a seductively choreographed rhythmic gymnastic number. The song is available digitally tomorrow, and as a 7-inch on August 13, backed by the B-side "Straight Thru Cru." No stream for this one as of right now, but posting this really couldn't wait until tomorrow. [...]

The back-in-action Bloc Party are returning next month with their new album Four , and today they've given us the video for first single "Octopus." The clip, directed by Nova Dando , mostly focuses on members of the band in their practice space, but it's cut together so quickly that it should really come with an epilepsy warning. Bloc Party's back on the scene, as we're inching closer to the release date of their upcoming album, Four. In anticipation for the 8/21 release, the crew has gone ahead and released their first single in the form of "Octopus." I went through some obnoxious Bloc Party phases in college, primarily due to Silent Alarm and A Weekend In The City. The following album Intimacy didn't really do it for me - so here's hoping that they capture the same sound on Four which made their first two albums so captivating. With the Bloc Party comeback in full swing, it was only a matter of time until we got some real material. The first single from Four  is here, with a video to match. On first listen, it seems like the band is up to its old tricks - the sharp guitars of their debut are pushed to an extreme by the staccato riffing here and the overall sound couldn't be mistaken for another band in the world right now. The video itself is appropriately jumpy, and it's impossible to deny that it's good [...]

U.K. dance-punk outfit Bloc Party are returning with a new album "Four," out Aug. 21 via Frenchkiss Records. The album was recorded with producer (and former L.A. denizen) Alex Newport, now headquartered in New York City. The video for the palpitation-inducing single "Octopus" — quite possibly the coolest thing we've heard from Kele Okereke and gang since their 2005 debut "Silent Alarm" — was filmed during the BBC One premiere of the song.
