If Horatio Alger were alive today, he'd be tempted to write about Slayer. Defying logic, popular fads and the moral majority, the band is an American thrash-to-riches story, having not just survived, but thrived on a regimen of non-compromise. Future musicologists will no doubt struggle to explain how four guys from Huntington Park forced Reign [...]
How You Like Me Now - The Heavy Who wouldn't love the adorable sock monkey in this commercial who fantasizes about hitting the town with his buddies, while riding in the back of his family's Kia Sorento. The tune that makes the fantasies of our friend the sock monkey, come to life is How do you [...]

I was startled to hear the English indierockers, The Heavy, featured on a Superbowl commercial. I thought the ad was pretty charming (this is the one where life size toys recreate The Hangover in a Kia SUV), and the band is certainly worth hearing. Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings recently released a brand new album called I Learned The Hard Way [...]
You may have noticed, the Stupor Bowl went down yesterday. I heard it suggested that they move the game to Saturday, allowing America a day to recover before trudging back to work. My brain, liver and intestines would like to publicly endorse this idea. Wings n' beer are not just for breakfast anymore, but that doesn't mean you won't regret overconsuming them the next day. I now realize the error of my ways yesterday and hope to make smarter, safer decisions in the future. Here are some other thoughts I had throughout the day. [...]
