A list of the nearest things in the most overexposed catalogue in the history of popular music to "deep tracks". Let's face it: there's no such thing as a "buried treasure" in the Beatles catalogue. How could there be? This is the most picked-over band in the history of music. Every single thing they ever released is readily available in the form of an official CD -- and, yes, I know there are reams of bootleg materials out there, but for a band that was so focused and deliberate in the studio, such experiments, outtakes,...

Okay, we'll start with the truly embarrassing part: we'd never really given "Hey Bulldog" a listen. The reasoning is rather strange, and bit meandering. First, there's the fact that it's not on any of the "real" Beatles record: the song was only issued as part of the Yellow Submarine soundtrack. As such, it didn't get any play in our standard spins of Beatles wax. What's more (and this is the truly silly part), for some reason we thought it was a cover. It's hard to say [...]

After a little more than a week in New York City, I am finally set up with my own Internet connection. I don't know what I was thinking by not setting this up before I arrived, but it certainly made blogging this past week more of an adventure.
