The Very Best is a collaboration between Malawian vocalist Esau Mwamwaya and London producers Radioclit, and in my very honest opinion, they aren't worth the attention they're getting. Last night The Very Best sold out Washington, D.C.'s DC9 Club, in part due to a whole lot of hype from websites such as Pitchfork, as well as a few shining [...]

DOWNLOAD: The Very Best - Warm Heart of Africa (Violens remix) (MP3) Esau & The Very Best @ Supreme Trading in July ( more by Ryan Muir ) On Tuesday, representatives of the Very Best, an African-British hybrid whose showcase was one of the most highly anticipated of the week, confirmed that the group would not be performing because Esau Mwamwaya, the Malawian singer who performs in the Very Best, "ran into unfortunate travel circumstances." A statement from the band's label, Green Owl, did not explain further [...]
A few things that caught our eye while we were supposed to be reviewing records.... The Very Best album may have left us a bit cold but they look extremely good fun live, here with extra added Vampire Weekend.... Tribute video to DJ AM, put together for his memorial service.... What's the betting Oasis will be back for their 20th anniversary in a few years? In the meantime here they are at their height and with [...]
The Very Best (Esau Mwamwaya and Radioclit) with Ezra Koenig played "Warm Heart of Africa" Live at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City on July 19th 2009. Post from: The Galley Boys The Very Best - Warm Heart of Africa (Live in NYC)

When Radioclit and Esau Mwamwaya voltron together they form, The Very Best . It's a very polarizing project with people either loving it or hating it. Personally, I find it there debut record, The Warm Heard of Africa, enjoyable even though at times it might appear to others you're listening to the soundtrack to the Lion King. It's an extremely uplifting record with fantastic beats full of percussion and happy-go-lucky synth work. Hipster queen, M.I.A. even appears on a track and the single (which shares the same name as the record) also guest stars Vampire Weekend's Ezra [...]
The Very Best, the collaboration between Esau Mwamwaya and Radioclit, made their U.S. debut in N.Y.C. on Saturday night, and an enthusiastic YouTuber recorded video of their performance of "Warm Heart of Africa," which featured Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekened reprising his role from the official version . There's a whole lot of smiles all around, and Koenig does some pretty awkward dancing with the Very Best's back-up dancers. The Very Best's The Warm Heart of Africa is due out in Sept. [ Stereogum ]

Radioclit and Esau Mwamwaya, aka the Very Best, made their NYC live debut in the Village on Saturday night. The guys didn't get started until sometime after 1AM, so you actually could have made it from Siren to Le Poisson Rouge in time to completely enjoy both. Judging from everyone's reports and these photos by Santiago Felipe , that probably would have been the smart thing to do -- lots of smiles, everybody said it was a party, Ezra turned up to sing his part on " The Warm Heart Of Africa ," etc. Here's some video of Esau [...]
