As you read this I'm probably lounging in Long Beach, NY with my BFF's. Got the fireworks, tambourines and drinks ready to go for when the night falls. Here are some vids from the past week + plus an oldide but a goodie. Enjoy! Have a wonderful 4th!! For any band, aligning your music with a certain visual aesthetic is a meticulously crafted process. For Animal Collective however, only one question need be answered. What would it sound/look like on acid? The results of which lie before your very eyes. I feel like I should of put a seizure disclaimer before this post because I stared at this image for almost 10 minutes and thought I entered the 9th portal of hell or the 5th divine dimension or something. If you're currently face down on your keyboard in a pool of your own saliva, I [...]

'Fireworks' - Animal Collective
Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam ( Domino ) A groundbreaking work of genius that should be cited as the Smile for the Ritalin generation.
Here is a track from the new Animal Collective album "Strawberry Jam", its bound to be one of the albums of the year so enjoy before the album is released in September!
The Fucking Eagles live on KEXP today go back and listen on the Streaming Archive With each new story about Amy Winehouse , the "Rehab" jokes get less and less funny. The Mercury Prize nominee, who by the way is currently leading our blog poll , had a meltdown during her return to the stage at the Eden Project on Tuesday, after blowing off nearly two weeks of gigs. The Sun reports that Winehouse left the stage after two songs and [...]
The Thursday Video Hook-Up began as a portion of this writer's former column here at InsidePulse.com, but when we decided to start up an indie music blog 10 months ago, we could never have imagined the response it would receive from both fans and art...
* Shhhhh....I really shouldn't be saying this, but what the hey. One of my favourite not-so-secret second hand stores, the Oxfam store on Kingsland Rd in Dalston, has just been split into two. The old store continues to sell clothes, toys, furniture and what not, while the new fangled store (situated just a few doors down) is solely devoted to records and books. Myself and Codename Sparrow are
Watch em. Enjoy em. Trade em with your friends.
One of our favourite bands, Animal Collective , play in London next week. Though we love their freaky campfire harmonies we've always been disappointed that Panda Bear is the only actual animal in the band. Avey Tare, Deakin and Geologist need to make more of an effort. Their new album Strawberry Jam is released by Domino in September and it is a weird and wonderful thing.
-The catchiest song of the summer, Spoon's The Underdog now has a video. Camera following assorted producers around a recording session, checking in on emotionless automaton musicians, Underdog could very well be a commentary on the commercialization of music and manufactured pop icons . Or, I could just be reading way too much into a quirky video from a classically quirky band. But that little skip over the dead producers has to mean something. Spoon - The Underdog ( mp3 ) [...]
Happy July 5th!... Animal Collective are touring .
Rain on the Fourth of July... what an inopportune time. As far as I'm aware most of the fireworks in my area were canceled. Instead I watched some of the Macy's Fireworks in New York City on NBC HD. It was pretty impressive though the presentation to say the least was a little obnoxious. Do we really need quick cut editing for fireworks? Plus they scored it with so many Yay-America songs from "Yankee Doodle", to "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" that the patriotic schmaltz was practically oozing from the screen. Fireworks don't need any cream and sugar. [...]
After leaving the excellent, free Midlake/New Pornos show at Battery Park yesterday (post tk), we discovered something rather excellent: East Village apartments have outstanding views of the East River fireworks! And after watching Animal Collective's first vid from Strawberry Jam , we discovered something else: the East River thirty-minute fireworks featured considerably less face-melting and sparkly, silhouetted Pandas, Aveys, Deakins and Geologists than does Animal Collective's seven-minute "Fireworks." It's always a little more fun in the movies.
Since our first "holy shit, strawberry jam is coming" post on June 12th , anticipation has been steadily increasing to hear the Animal Collective 's new LP. And, today, I finally got the opportunity to spin it in it's entirety. What can I say? Over the last month, there have been many, many small leaks. A song here , a track there . Hell, just yesterday the band put out a video for "Fireworks" - which gives another glimpse of what to expect [...]

Animal Collective - "Fireworks" Oh, and... Comsat Angels - "Independence Day" ( previous, info-filed post on this ) ...more Neon Lights stuff to come. Today even. Got a second now? Enter the contest ...
Seriously. Animal Collective has just completed production on the first video lifted from the band's highly anticipated forthcoming LP, Strawberry Jam . The tune is entitled 'Fireworks' and the 7-minute clip is below. I'm in love. Surely, not as exciting/trite as Ryan Adams opening with 'Firecracker' at Battery Park four years ago ( read Miss Modernage's NME review of that gig here ) but still pretty high up there. Happy 4th! Classic AC MP3 at bottom. MP3: [...]
