The Dance Party released their debut album TOUCH yesterday. I suggest you go buy it . If you have some sort of digital music phobia, then I strongly encourage you to come purchase a physical copy of the album this Friday night at Rock & Roll Hotel when we host a huge, crazy, out of control party with the band... In the meantime, check out the bands top 5 favorite videos of the year after the jump: The XX - "Islands" [...]
Who knew Jay-Z was such a art affectionado. In his latest video, On to the Next One, he basically brags about what a cool cat he is. Down boy. This underappreciated scholar act is getting a bit old. Either way, this video contains some interesting imagery. Take note the diamond-covered skull, which is a replica of For the Love of God , a Damien Hirst sculpture that the British artist fabricated for about $30 million in 2007 and sold for a purported $100 million This is not the first time Jay-Z [...]
The Edge was on air with Dave Fanning yesterday. Among other things , The Edge said "new album, huh, wha?" and then mentioned that he and Bono (or the whole band, I guess?), wrote and recorded a song - in one day - and sent it to Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz for a Haiti charity project. I wonder if this will end up as their song, but performed by a greater ensemble of musicians? Or a U2 song with Jay-Z rapping some verses? Or ... what? Either way, one would assume if this is a go, [...]
New video for Jay'z "On To The Next". I did not bite into his recent album as I have to other albums of last year, so I don't know if this was on Blueprint 3. However, inferring from the BP3 logo featured on one of the many visually stunning shots in this video, I'm assuming it was. Amongst the array of oddities in this video, my favorite as described just now, was the shot with the bouncing flaming basketballs with the Blueprint 3 logo in the background. Drop your thoughts on the video in the comments section. yeahzah
because it's so fucking ill.

This week the New York Times reported a disheartening story about two of the largest retail chains. You see, instead of taking unsold items to sample sales or donating them to people in need, H&M and Wal-Mart have been throwing them out in giant trash bags. And in the case that someone may stumble on these bags and try to keep or re-sell the items, these companies have gone ahead and slashed up garments, cut off the sleeves of coats, and sliced holes in shoes so they are unwearable. Yahoo.com Are [...]

The only thing that could make this any better would be replacing the Beyonce look-a-like with the real deal and throwing Travis Barker behind the drum kit. Otherwise, absolutely brilliant. I mean, how hard could it have really been to ask your wife to do what she does best atop of some faux-Louis trunks in your vid? And while we are talking about the trunks, could they not have been real either? Is that even Jay-Z? Tagged: Beyonce, Jay Z, Swizz Beatz, Travis Barker
Please let this herald the year of very weird hip-hop videos. Lil Wayne with a horse and magenta-paint-drenched Rubix cube. Jim Jones with a cross fighting grandma zombies. Dipset constructing a house made out of stucco and old National Geographics. Man, my imagination is shot.
Jay-Z- On To The Next One (ft Swizz Beatz)
This has been out since NYE?? That's what I get for checking out over the holidays and not reading any blogs or emails. I got motivated to post this after I got an email about this: The Question of The Week: C'mon Do You Still Think Jay-Z Is Illuminati? C'mon, anyone seriously thinking this video is promoting Jay-Z 's affiliation with the illuminati needs to get a life!

While Jay-Z's new music video for "On To The Next One" probably won't do much to quash rumors of him dabbling in the occult , it does make for an interesting—if not slightly unsettling—four minutes. Imagery of a crystal skull, dark liquid dripping off a hammer, black bird feathers and a super creepy dude wearing a tux and Joker-esque makeup flash by in the clip, which also features producer/rapper Swizz Beatz. Like Hova's videos for current European single "Young Forever" and recent U.S. chart-topper "Empire State Of [...]
Is there any question that dance is taking over? I think this video says it all. If Jay Z and Swizz Beats think they can get away with ripping off Justice then they have another thing coming..... Not really, this track is definitely one of the cooler beats that I've heard Jay Z on lately and it really carries a darker tone. Not to mention that the video is super waked out with random shots of ninja women and a skeleton man. Any way, I guess this means our beloved "underground" music is slowly and surely becoming the new [...]
This is a beautiful B&W video directed by Anthony Mandler. It's not often that I want to sit through a whole video because it's usually the same 3 shots repeating themselves. Mandler's vision is darker than what we're used to seeing on Jay, but it definitely fits.
My respect for Jay-Z has gone up exponentially since catching his live show in Toronto in October. He's building his empire and beyond all of that it's great to hear kids like Wale talk about how much of a hard worker he is after all the fame and fortune. On New Years Eve, Jay dropped his newest video for On To The Next One. It's full of super-rich imagery and the bets production on The Blueprint 3 in my opinion complements of Swizz Beatz. Click on for a super entertaining video interview with Nardwuar.
My favourite track from The Blueprint III gets the much-deserved video treatment. Swizz Beats produced (and can be heard) in the tune and which also features a familiar sample via Justice's D.A.N.C.E. We've come to the end of a decade and it's full speed into 2010. With the new year came a familiar face showin up in an unexpected place. The dead on war painted face of what looks to be Drums of Death , appears in the official video for "On To The Next One" by Jay-Z | Swizz Beatz, the fifth single from The Blueprint 3 LP. Perhaps Jay-Z has a leanin towards a bit of black magic?? Drums of Death's remix of Hot Chip's new single is out on DFA soon and his much-anticipated debut [...]
Its the new year (decade), and I feel like this is an appropriate jam to ring in 2010. Here's the official video to the Justice-sampling Jay-Z song, "On To The Next One." Its quite the gem in my opinion, and definitely a departure from your average Hip-Hop music video. Swizz Beats is one of my favorite Hip-Hop producers, who is constantly skirting the line between dance music and Hip-Hop. Swizzy!!
