Manchester, UK band Doves release follow up to 'Some Cities' and US/UK tour dates Manchester, UK's Doves will release their first album in four years today and have already booked a short North American tour to promote it. Kingdoms of Rust is the band's follow up to their critically acclaimed 2005 release Some Cities. The band spent 18 months working on the record and bassist/vocalist Jimi Goodwin likened the process...
Honesty is hard to define in the context of an album but since we first heard 'The Cedar Room' in 2000, State has been eager followers of Doves' sound, coming as it does from a mix of optimism and grey streets, a Northern English guitar realism with that often-mentioned dance undercurrent (from their past as Sub Sub). They have played some of the most joyus concerts ever witnessed in The Olympia, Dublin too. After opening The Last Broadcast gig with the massive 'There Goes The Fear' then straight into and 'Pounding' a Sunday Times hack remarked [...]
There have been a ton of great albums in 2009 so far, but the album that seems to be getting the most buzz among the bloggers and other music folks that I follow on Twitter is the new Doves album, Kingdom of Rust . Truth be told, I've never really gotten into the band in the past, though I can't really put my finger on the reason. I think that might be changing, though. Kingdom of Rust is, in fact, damn good. I may not be ready to call it one [...]
We'll be back at 10am this Wednesday with more of ' Bands and Artists You Should Know About ', so make sure you tune in nice and early. For those that missed last week's show the podcast is posted here . [...]
I haven't been keeping up with any news on Doves since the initial announcement of their new record Kingdom of Rust , so this video for the title track completely slipped by my radar. I initially came to finding this through a remix of the same song that was being offered on NME by Still Going, and I have to be honest in saying that it was complete crap. If there's a band that just doesn't sound good being remixed, Doves will certainly be pretty high up on that [...]

Sorry to interrupt Ed's lame-ass self help blog below but I think there are more important and pressing matters at hand, for example the DOVES ARE ABOUT TO RELEASE A NEW ALBUM AND MAKE THEIR WAY TO MY NECK OF THE WOODS! They're probably coming to you too but I really couldn't give a shit. Bottom line- they ooze liquid awesomeness out of every orifice (I know I once went camping with them...just kidding). Some of their songs make me want to suck my thumb and drift off to the land of nod while other songs make [...]

by Andrew Frisicano " Doves have been recording their follow-up [to 2005's Some Cities ] for the past 18 months, having ensconced themselves to a farm house-come-studio in Cheshire." The band took a similar approach to the acclaimed Some Cities , locking themselves away in the Scottish and Welsh countrysides to complete the album. The result this time - their new album Kingdom of Rust (out via Astralwerks Records on April 7th). The [...]

Estes avisos vindos da NME deixam-me assim... um bocado... be my enemy.De qualquer forma também fiquei a saber através do amigo Astronauta, via Planeta Pop, que estes

Doves are officially back ladies and gentlemen, lets all start a fire. Their forth album Kingdom Of Rust is due for release on April 6th in this wonderful year that is 2009 and the first single to be taken from the upcoming LP is this very one here.
In hindsight that "from the mailbox" mixtape I posted the other day was pretty damn good. Certainly not from a writing point of view, as the words weren't really there. But most of the songs were of surprisingly high quality and 7 of them have been on repeat this morning, with only the Pet Shop Boys cover being ignored. To be honest, and being that every now and then do make you feel a lot better, I only posted it to attract some visitors, though the number of visits it actually did cause most likely can [...]

The Doves are offering up a free download of a new track called Jetstream on their official site. Take advantage of this one. A great track that really grows and grows. The band explain the track: Being fans of the Vangelis film score, ' B lade Runner ', we always wanted to write an imaginary song for the closing credits on Ridley Scott's classic... It's called Jetstream ... [...]
