let's get into this thing . . Ringo Deathstarr- So High . . . . . I've been ecstatically kicking Colour Trip around since Ringo Deathstarr put it out (Finally!) in february. Shoegaze with energy and they're from Austin...enough said. [...]
After a strangely sparse crowd the last time I was at Maxwell's, it was great to get back to the famed Hoboken venue for a completely sold out show. Kicking off the tour that night, Miniature Tigers definitely upped the attendance record. Songs off their quirky and carefree Fortress album are a bit more subdued in person, but enthralling nonetheless. Their sound is whimsical and fun, mixing acoustic strumming with marching beats and experimental synth lines. Charlie Brand was a sweet and humble front man, chatting graciously with the crowd between songs, indulging a [...]
My colleague, Aaron, and I had the pleasure of seeing Miniature Tigers live this weekend. They opened for Minus the Bear and were quite awesome. Check out this video of theirs from their two year old album, Tell it to the Volcano. Check out Miniature Tiger's albums on Amazon.com

Lollapalooza is back and bigger than ever with an eclectic set of headliners that ranges from the post-Madonna, dancehall pop of Lady Gaga to reunited Seattle grungers Soundgarden to the unbridled anthems of indie rock saviors Arcade Fire . But of course, you probably are familiar with those groups. So, we decided on keying you in on some of our favorites who play the other eight hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Get ready, Chicago. Here's your Loud Loop Press Lollapalooza 2010 preview... [...]

Miniature Tigers Being a sucker for bands that sound cute and cuddly (Grizzly Bear, Frightened Rabbit, Dr Dog, Freelance Whales to name but a few), I had my suspicions that I'd probably like Phoenix's Miniature Tigers . They've been making very listenable indie-pop for the last four years, but I'm only a recent convert after noticing that O!IW's own Superhumanoids were playing with them and the equally wonderful Spinto Band. Turns out it's a good time to get turned on to these small tigers as they're releasing their new album 'Fortress', [...]

Turns out I'm a visual guy. Is that a redundant statement? Yes. Great music videos can actually complete great songs where you never knew a part was even absent. I'm constantly awed by the massively creative (and sometimes drug induced) ways video directors shine songs in new multicolored lights. This Sonic Stew is all about the visuals. Here are some great examples of songs where the video is the missing piece. Watch the video. Then, if you like it, grab the track. Word of advice: take it slow. 1) Eugene McGuinness - [...]

Supporting the ANDY CLOCKWISE residency at Spaceland tonight, it's MINIATURE TIGERS , the band from Phoenix with an incredible record (" Tell It To The Volcano ") that's one of our favorites this year. Also on the bill is a former Future Sounds compilation band, THE VLA , as well as GLOBES ON REMOTE . Just in case you haven't seen the video for the Miniature [...]
Miniature Tigers (Photo: Esther Hyejin Chung) You may remember I wrote about Miniature Tigers a few years back. The band even played a trio of Rock Insider presented shows for us. The band just finished a successful tour with Kevin Devine and will be heading back to the west coast for a handful of dates with Princeton. LA Readers can catch the band live at Spaceland on July 6th. The band's hilarious video for "Cannibal Queen" their sweet as nails track was also recently added to MTV2's Subterranean . Watch it [...]
YouTube - Miniature Tigers - Cannibal Queen Saw this video on Subterranean this weekend and thought for sure that was Will Forte or at least his younger brother. Wikipedia tells me it isn't. Still a great video and a super...
It's a travesty I haven't written about Miniature Tigers until now. Their debut album Tell it to the Volcano (released on Modern Art Records earlier this year) has helped me push through many a manic day with it's dorm room-romantic one liners and infectious reverb'd choruses. Miniature Tiger's well-rounded pop songs have the sweet licks of a Fountains of Wayne with lyrics laced with Elliott Smith (on meds) anxieties. Add in a bit of Weezer boy argyle sweater leanings and Feist radio appeal and you've got the album that is in running for one of my [...]
by marissa bea We have a great variety of new albums and incredible bands for y'all this time around. From Boston, to Oklahoma, these bands all explore something great about mixing the modern with the tried-and-true. Look out for each and every one of these in your local music stores or online. Get to know them, learn them, love them. Anya Marina kicks us off with a track from her January release Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase 2 . via Chop Shop Records. Without further [...]

Phoenix, Arizona's Miniature Tigers make the same sort of clever and intelligent rock Weezer made when they were still good. The Tigers' first album Tell it to the Volcano was released online in August and in stores February on Modern Art Records, a label created by the band in partnership with Epic Records. The band will be on tour this spring and summer with Kevin Devine.

Do you like Brooklyn's Kevin Devine ? Would you go see him live? Well, he's touring alot over the next few months and Phoenix band Miniature Tigers is backing his band on all shows. They both play fun, inventive pop with swell vocals and instrumentation. I especially like Devine's "I Could Be With Anyone" - that's fine. Check out more Kevin Devine videos at I.Like . The tour goes south and east, then to the midwest and finally to Boston and New York, finishing up with a show at Music Hall [...]

Wilson+un groupe de fou+longeuil de fou= Cannibal Queen - Miniature Tigers BY: Camille "la fille qui boit trop de vin rouge" Dufour Thériault
What? I am writing two posts with only a few hours between them? For a good three or four weeks, I have been told to listen to band by the name of Miniature Tigers . Just this morning I was able to obtain all of their material I could get my hands on. The person who had been pressuring me to listen to this band was correct in assuming that I would like them. See, I love it when the sound is upbeat...then you take a look at the lyrics and realize that it isn't all [...]

Yep, it's time to bring back the Friday Five. Just to reiterate, these are songs that have been on my playlist of late, along with new discoveries that I'd like to share. So, without further ado, let's kick it off with some Clash. Do they need any introduction? I think not. CHEESEBOIGER! The Clash: The Magnificent Seven - 8MB Here's a band I came across via web surfing and they knocked me out, they're definitely worth your time. Miniature Tigers hail from Phoenix, Arizona and just released a [...]
If you haven't seen that flyer over there on the right, I'm really happy to have added Miniature Tigers to the Oct. 13 Birdmonster and Kinch show at Yucca Tap Room. The group (from Phoenix!) is getting some airtime on Sirius' Left of Center, and the band just released a new video for the single Cannibal Queen, directed by JD Ryznar, one of the co-creators of the Yacht Rock series . Check out the video and then come out Monday. No cover! Miniature [...]
