This band is unafraid to dig sounds out of the soil of American music and grow them to maturity in its own backyard. On Burnout, Vancouver's Ox isn't afraid to go where plenty of country-tinged rock bands have gone before. Not only that, but it commits fully and with gusto to that well-worn road. ive only listened to a handful of ox's musical offerings, but thus far im pretty damn impressed. they remind me of a combination of neil's harvest / on the beach , my morning jacket circa at dawn and pneumonia era whiskeytown. the music is lush and rustic, and lead singer mark browning kinda sounds like ryan adams doing his best adam duritz impression, which to my ears at least, is definitely not a bad thing. they have a new record coming out on 11.10 entitled burnout . worth checking out, for sure. Yesterday Shane mentioned that very few records are crafted to accentuate the oranges and yellows that grab your eye when the first cold winds hit.
