Tom Waits já ganhou diversas interepretações de suas músicas. Até a atriz Scarlett Johansson já gravoou algumas de suas faixas. Agora foi a vez do Metric fazer um bonito cover de música Strange Weather , faixa presente no álbum Bi g Time (1988). A gravação faz parte de uma sessão em que a banda participou para um programa da rádio nova iorquina WFUV Public Radio. Acompanhada apenas de um piano, Emily Haines dá um tom doce e sútil à canção que a deixa ainda mais româtica do que sua versão orginial.

Rather than taking on the great, inimitable Tom Waits, Metric's Emily Haines channels Marianne Faithfull's 1987 version of this Big Time cut for WFUV . All hushed piano, chilling vocals, and a mood that - in more recent memory - conjures the vibe of Alison Mosshart's "The Last Goodbye" for KCRW last year, the result is one of the best covers of this tune around. Indie rockers Metric recently laid down a cover of Tom Waits' "Strange Weather" for WFUV's indie offshoot The Alternate Side . Singer Emily Haines plays to her strengths, avoiding the sneer Waits gives the track on 19882s Big Time .
