david ford has toured with ray lamontagne and they're a decent match, though ford's music has more production, more sweep - at least on his recently issued second album, songs for the road . but both are emotionally accessible troubadours with no small amount of grit. songs for the road comes packed with, alongside that grit, swelling melodies & open-throated singing, all of which are accounted for in the opening track "go to hell," about a misbehaving chap who gets told (oh snap). david ford - go to hell [...]
I'm still not sure exactly where I come down on David Ford. He has a tendency to get a little dramatic and weepy a la James Blunt, but he's a significantly better songwriter than Blunt and he brings a real rawness to his songs that reminds me of a time before Damien Rice started to suck.
