Mellowhype, easily my favorite aspect of odd future, simply because left brain is way nice on the 1s and 2s and hodgy has bars for days. Hodgy just dropped the latest mellowhype track via his twitter. Alt hip-popping duo the MELLOWHYPE have a new video, LA BONITA , which unfortunately does not sample the MADGE. At all.
MellowHype, or better known as Hodgy Beats & LeftBrain of OddFuture, come together for their newest song La Bonita. The track should find its way onto MellowHype's next project but for now we will just have to settle for the dark visuals for the track. We even get to hear some LeftBrain rapping along with Hodgy singing on this track. You can check the video right after the jump.
You know you are in for something when it comes to MellowHype , made up of Odd Future members Hodgy Beats and producer Left Brain , especially in their videos. Featuring nuns with guns, women (and Hodgy Beats) in Dia de los Muertos make up, plenty of smoking and drinking, and one very frightened monkey, the clip for MellowHype's "La Bonita" gives a slick black and white sheen to some of the groups favorite topics. The song itself is more laid back fare than fans of Odd Future might expect, riding cool xylophone tones and heavy bass (a sound reminiscent of some of the Neptunes' sunnier productions). MellowHype, the Odd Future duo of Hodgy Beats and Left Brain, will release their new album Numbers this fall. Their single " La Bonita " is all about Spanish women, so the new video goes way over-the-top on Latino imagery: Hodgy in Day Of The Dead skeleton facepaint, Left Brain dressed like a matador, a mariachi band in luchadore masks. Not too long ago we go to hear a brand new track from Hodgy and Left Brain in their project MellowHype . Titled " La Bonita " it showed a growth from the duo. Progression is good and today we get to enjoy the visual accompaniment features a monochrome Day of the Dead feel with plenty of face-paint. The track will feature on their new album, Numbers , which is set for release on October 9th via Odd Future Records.

Mellowhype's new single, "La Bonita", has gone through some changes since we posted it earlier this summer. For one, it now features an opening verse from producer/sometimes-rapper Left Brain, who has also apparently fleshed out the instrumentation with some addition touches. It now sounds like a finished, possibly radio-friendly jam that just received the visual treatment. There's a nun with a gun, Hodgy Beats stroking a monkey's head, and huge-ass speakers. In other words, it doesn't make that much sense...but it does? Watch it below. Numbers drops Oct. 9.
