Video: The Meaning of American Pie

When I was in my early teens, a radio station was doing a countdown of the best 500 songs ever. If you have read any of my previous post, you know that my family is over the top when it comes to the Eagles . We listened to the countdown over the course of several days. There's a couple of things I learned...most of this I knew or read. I think the person who put this together missed a few things(which I caught as a Dylan fan)...and I disagree with some of the interpretation, but that's the beauty of art---my interpretation may be different than yours, but that doesn't mean one is right and the other is wrong as long as your explanation holds up. Anyway, enjoy a song from my childhood.

Don MacLean was born on October 2nd, 1945. Buddy Holly was born on September 7, 1936 and died on February 3, 1959. Even there's no anniversary to speak of, who needs an excuse to dive into an exposition of some of the best lyrics in music history? Not me.
