Video: Rivers and Rainn - "One of Us" (Joan Osborne cover, featuring the guy from Six Feet Under who everybody calls the guy from The Office, on bongos.) This is, of course, an absolutely terrible song. As trite and insipid...

Why did this happen? It doesn't matter. TV's Dwight and Weezer's frontman cover Joan Osborne's "One of Us." It's a really slow starter, but the payoff is great. (The song itself starts at just before minute five, but some of the warm up banter is funny.) I still hate this song, but bongos make everything better.

Today's actor/rocker collab cover posts aren't over just yet. Unlike a lot of his celeb peers, @ rainnwilson 's Twitter doesn't focus on the fart sandwiches he eats or daily updates of his follower count. He's self-promotional ( soulpancake anybody?), yes, but also he demonstrates wit independent of his sitcom scripts, pretty great taste in music, and hints about covering songs with Rivers Cuomo. For his part, the Weezer man just uses his website to inform people about prospective Rainn collabs. The two met up to record a take on Joan Osbourne's "One Of Us" [...]

This weekend, Rivers Cuomo and Jason Schwartzman will take over SiriusXM's Alt Nation channel as a part of their radio takeover series. Cuomo has been recording some new tracks to play this weekend, and among them is a cover of Joan Osbourne's " One of Us " which features Rainn Wilson (aka The Office 's Dwight) on bongos. Wilson jokes about not wanting to come off too Bonham, and he proves to be a pretty competent bongoist (is that the right word?). Cuomo and Schwartzman's takeover kicks off tonight at 8 p.m. [...]
