Ten or twelve years ago, Creed frontman Scott Stapp was on TV, talking about Zeppelin. I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was something along these lines: Zeppelin were, in their time, the biggest band in the world, and critics detested them until the popular consensus surrounding them simply became impossible to ignore; this was now, presumably, Creed's time to make the same leap into acceptance. That didn't happen, obviously. Creed sucked too completely. But Stapp was right about Zeppelin and the levels of critical disdain directed their way. In the first of his great column [...]

Sigh No More is the debut album from London-based quartet Mumford & Sons, which has caused a big controversy amongst bloggers in the past few weeks. The album has been out since October of 2009 in the UK but was recently (February 2010) released in the States. The controversy was brought on by Pitchfork of'course (once again), which rated the album with a mere 2.1 out of 10. So what do we think? Mumford & Sons - The Cave Mumford & Sons - Little Lion Man [...]
Mumford & Sons have been a round for a couple of years now, playing gigs in and around London along with buddies of the same scene like Johnny Flynn and Noah And The Whale, but they've only just (October 2009) released their debut album "Sigh No More". Polarising critics (some saying their music is awful, some (most) saying it's excellent) they've made an album that's passionate and catchy, melodious and stomping, but most of all enjoyable. I think I'm on an Indie-Folk kick lately as most of the bands I'm featuring seem to be in that kind of [...]

Mumford & Sons , been hearing about them for some time, was kind of guessing that they were the annual Fleeting Foxes. So their new video Winter Winds is not surprising in that sense, but It is totally repellant with massive amounts of rural beard-o-cliche. I proceeded to ask Boran Guney, one of my partner buddies at Etrafta to write three lines about it critically knowing how he hates everything hip, folk & cliche. Here's what he blurted out : "Another shameless example of rampant irishxploitation, these blokes sound as ethnic and authentic as doner [...]
