Now on their third album, Brooklyn's Bishop Allen are also returning for a third time to this year's South By Southwest Festival. Famous for recording and releasing an EP every month of the year in 2006, they were snapped up by Dead Oceans in time for the release of their last album The Broken String, which was on heavy rotation here at S.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009 Today's Quick Mention: So, over the weekend I was sent a special link to stream the new Metric album, Fantasies. I'm not allowed to share it (sorry), but I thought I would at least mention that I love it, and I expect you'll feel the same way once you get your hands on it April 14. Bishop Allen is back! Ok, I guess they haven't been gone long enough to warrant an exclamation mark, but I can't help that [...]

I wanted to do a little something special for post 500, and what's more special than a video interview? Well, lots of things. Cake, for example. But I'm not making you a cake. Apropos of nothing, except that I really like them, I sat down and spoke with Christian Rudder of Bishop Allen . Fortuitously, they have a gig at Music Hall of Williamsburg May 16, so if you like what you hear, go see 'em. Here we are in all our camera-shy glory: [...]

OK, this was kind of agonizing to cut it to 10, but I guess that's the point. These 10 albums have proved themselves my favorites of 2007, over some very strong contenders. I am by no means saying that these are the absolute very best of the year, they're just albums that meant a lot to me. And I would highly recommend a listen. Albert Hammond Jr. "Yours to Keep" [...]

Ah! It's just as cute as you knew it was going to be... Cuteness overpowering... Must lie down... Too much... cuuute... Seriously, this is a great video. It reminds me of those neat camera commercials that were on all the time this summer. Props to director Randy Bell for a job well done.

Couldn't get the embed to work the other day, so here it is. And yes, this song has been playing on a Sony commercial for cameras. Didn't take them long to pick up on the marketability for that one, huh?
