Yeasayer are back! The band is set to release their new album 'Fragrant World' on 20 August 2012 (Mute Records), the follow up to 2010’s master piece 'Odd Blood'. The new album, produced by Yeasayer, is seething with sonics that construct eleven outstanding tracks that act together and also in a solo existence. Yeasayer have produced something that sounds foreign at first, but [...]

Editor's Note: The 2010 music scene was actually one of my favorites in a long time. While some saw a slow year with nothing eventful happening, I saw a hip-hop artist reveal himself as a human (K. West), an Icelandic superstar create something magical on his own (Jonsi), and a band that reached the highest of expectations (Arcade Fire), plus a plethora of Bay Area bands that expanded the scene's already blooming hype machine (Weekend, Judgement Day, Grand Lake, Morning Benders, Sean Hayes, Sonny & The Sunsets, Il Gato, Sleepy Sun, The Limousines, etc). [...]

Yep, we played another epic game of King Of The Mountains with Our Society's 21 Collective Most Awesomest Albums of 2010 and Yeasayer was the last man standing! I'm so glad because I feel I mistakenly left them out of my own 2010 list Oh man... so good. .
So 2010 is drawing to a close and the obligatory end-of-year lists are ten-a-penny. So what makes ours so special? Well...er...nothing really, but inspired by the notion that 'if you can’t beat em, join em’ we put our heads together to come up with our favourite albums of the year. Once the votes were in we put the results through the most powerful computer known to man...i.e. TJ chucked out the ones he didn’t like, and after the rest of us threw our toys out of the pram we eventually all made up over a mince pie and a bottle of [...]

8. Yeasayer - Odd Blood Intoxicating rhythms and limitless energies, this is the most danceable and bum shakin' release of the year. Less a mere album and more a compilation of feel good treats, Odd Blood delivered two of the best singles of the year: "Ambling Alp" and "O.N.E." ( home / myspace / facebook / twitter / tour ) 7. Broken Bells - [...]
A entire year's worth of songs all boils down to this article. Did Sufjan's 25 minute epic, "Impossible Soul", take the number one spot, or was it Cee Lo Green, Yeasayer , Joanna Newsom, or Gorillaz? Here are our 50 favorite songs of 2010, in order, so check them out and let us know what you think. Did we nail it? Did we royally screw the pooch? ------------------------------ - 50. "Farewell My Love" - Savoir Adore - Listen 49. "I Heart New York" [...]
Hello SFC readers! My name is Laylah Madi , and I'm an art show curator and have been for a while now. My show's consist of art, body painting, magic shows, bands, dj's, vj's, and of course the lovely Smile for Camera crew. I think the main reason I love hosting shows is for the simple fact that so many people have so much talent and they they don't quite know how to share it with the world. The first question I have to ask people when i meet them is somewhere along the lines of "What [...]
Amidst a line-up with many bigger-name acts, this year’s Oxegen fest features a number of noteworthy blog-hyped up-and-comers as well. Here are our picks for the best buzzy bands from North America. (Pitchfork would approve, too.) Memoryhouse (Red Bull Academy Stage, Friday) By late afternoon on Friday, those smart enough to check out the Red Bull Academy stage for Memoryhouse’s spaced-out synth pop will be greatful for their breezy, calm soundscapes. The Canadian duo have received lots of blog-praise this year despite only having [...]

Sometimes a band can take sounding retro too far and venture into straight replication of previously chartered ground. Unfortunately for Yeasayer , and their sophomore effort, Odd Blood , what they achieve sounds like an 80’s new-wave cover band attempting to write originals of their own. What results is a collection of stale and regurgitated sounding songs that don’t compel multiple plays. Gone is the edgy but airy, acoustic tinged, pop from All Hour Cymbals and in its place are a heavy dose of synth sounds, [...]
On their debut, this band made waves on the strength of a quietly revelatory single about the year 2080. Now the group seems determined as all hell to imagine 2080 -- the year -- in sound. For all the critical buzzwords ascribed to 2007's All Hour Cymbals -- psychedelic, ethereal, sonically adventurous; Pitchfork's Eric Harvey described a "pan-ethnic spiritualism" derived in the Byrne/Eno tradition -- there was always something intangibly organic about the album; earthy, even. It was the sort of cavernous, lightly doctored indie-pop you could throw on a mix with Fleet Foxes or Yellow House-era Grizzly Bear [...]
YaY, agora sim! Arrumaram o vídeo da apresentação do Yeasayer no programa do Jimmy Fallon. Sterling! E acá o video da musiqueta. Olímpico!
Brooklyn three-piece Yeasayer cite a collective acid trip in New Zealand as the catalyzing inspiration for sophomore full-length Odd Blood , worth mentioning since their music is often - and aptly - described as psychedelic. Much-buzzed debut All Hour Cymbals was a digital/analog/accoustic melange of dreamy pop that was frequently likened to CSNY for its three-part vocal harmonies, psychedelic in a corduroy pants and two doobies sort of way but not really mind-bending. However, on Odd Blood 's first track "The Children," replete with a industrial percussion and heavily processed vocals, it's clear that [...]
There's a lot of anticipation over the new Yeasayer album, Odd Blood , set to be released early February. They've released a very creative video for the great track Ambling Alp. Hopefully it is a good sign of what to expect.

Yeasayer, riding a wave of publicity on the eve of the release of their second album, are poised to earn an even bigger following with the fantastic and accessible Odd Blood ( Album Review ). Singer, guitarist and songwriter Anand Wilder tells onethirtybpm all about the recording of the album, from their influences to its sequencing, explains their visual style, and comments on the album’s early internet leak in an eye-opening interview. onethirtybpm: So, you guys have sort of blown up since 2007, how does it feel to [...]
