Last weekend, Miike Snow played three consecutive sold-out shows in New York City. Not bad, considering the Swedish trio formed in 2007 and didn't appear on the U.S. music radar till the release of their eponymous album in May 2009. Sweden's Miike Snow is the cool Euro-pop trio of American singer/songwriter Andrew Wyatt and noted electro-pop producers/mixers Pontus Winnberg and Kristian Carlsson, best known for their work on Britney Spear's "Toxic". New single and video "Silvia" eschews over-the-top dance beats for a more straight-ahead piano-chorded melody and we find the the whole thing an in-toxic-ating bite of cotton candy pop fluff with an enormous hook. Odd little video, too. From their self-titled '09 debut (Downtown).

Yep here's an obligatory top ten because I spent time putting these together for bma and I figure, why not share with everyone else?! Sadly my number 1 is pretty much not even anyone else's top 50! Miike Snow people! Maybe I love it too much? I don't know. I just think it hits all the right buttons and it's a very different kind of music. It's electro but it's not as saccharine as, say La Roux or Passion Pit. It's not another outstanding FOLK album like 2008's Fleet Foxes. Miike Snow's debut is a pretty unique album for 2009 [...]

Dietro il moniker Miike Snow si nasconde un trio per due terzi svedese e per l'altro terzo americano. Andrew Wyatt , l'americano, è un produttore che ha lavorato anche con Ebony Bones e Daniel Merriweather; mentre i due svedesi Bloodshy & Avant sono un duo che ha messo le mani su molte produzioni in ambito dance-pop (per dirne una niente meno che Toxic di Britney Spears).
