By channeling their inner-Beatles and bringing psychedelic rock back into the vogue, Tame Impala has done more than any other band for their particular genre of music in 2012. Lonerism, their excellent follow up to 2010’s Innerspeaker showcases the band’s immense development over the course of only a few years. By mastering their command of complex lyrics to go with the swirling melodies, frontman Kevin Parker and co. have created one of the best records of 2012. Upon the release of Lonerism, comparisons between Parker and Lennon ran rampant, and on songs [...]

With the PARKLIFE tour getting under way in the coming weeks, we figured it's high time we preview some of the best the event has to offer. Here's Dom with his Parklife Top Fives THE PRESETS The Juggernaut that is K YM MOYES and JULIAN HAMILTON may have (literally) changed their tune on latest LP 'Pacifica', but this is no reason to fret. The duo are renowned as live specialists and will no doubt breathe new [...]

Posted in General Clickable Soundbite Forgive me, this post should have been with you days ago! It's here now though and I really hope you dig the tune. Tame Impala's - Elephant; a track that many bands of the 702s rock scene would have been mighty proud of. It goes deeper or further back into rock territory (almost into prog with the [...]

During their first ever trip to New York City just a couple months ago, Alt-J played to a half filled room at Merucry Lounge as direct support to We Are Serenades . Now, with their debut album arriving in the states on September 18 via Canvasback , the band is poised to take our city by storm with two already sold out shows. Most impressive considering they're also headlining Bowery Ballroom on September 12. Of course, they're not the only band in town this week worth seeing. Check out Wild Nothing with Grimes , [...]
- Frequenze News - Black Sabbath.

Lollapalooza is back with a line-up that's full of up-and-coming local acts, legitimate buzz bands, arena rockers and a few head scratchers. So, we here at Loud Loop figured you might need some help deciding which bands to check out and which to avoid. And of course you know the Black Sabbath, The Black Keys and the Chili Peppers, so we won't waste your time on them. Instead, these are our picks for can't-miss acts those other eight hours this Friday, Saturday and Sunday... [...]

Tweet We've not heard a great deal from Natasha Khan, aka Bat For Lashes, since the release of 2009's impressive album Two Suns, a record that produced two Indie30 Top 100 singles, including the standout 'Daniel'. Last week she released the first single from her forthcoming third record, The Haunted Man which sees the light of day in the UK in mid-October. 'Laura' debuting at 9, is an sparsely exquisite listen resting with a simple chord progression, horns and Khan's delicately fragile vocals [...]

If you were asked to trace the phylogeny of Tame Impala's aesthetic, it’s unlikely that you would bring up Queens of the Stone Age. “Elephant,” the ass-kicking lead single from the soon-to-be-released Lonerism , captures the same sidewalk stomping swagger found on “God Is In The Radio,” but is also in step with early rock/metal trailblazers like Zeppelin and King Crimson. Graced with another slushy interlude, it’s both familiar and thoroughly contemporary. The pleasures on “Elephant” are simple: A big crunchy riff that pulls back right as it’s getting comfortable (rarely is so much wrung out of two notes), [...]

Here's a new song from Tame Impala . Elephant is off the album Lonerism , which is expected out in October.

'Elephant' is the first official single from Tame Impala's second album titled Lonerism . The album, due out in October, once again was written and recorded mostly by frontman Kevin Parker at his home in Perth, Western Australia. 'Elepahnt' has a real Beatles feel about it, but in an interview with Mess+Noise, Parker noted that Rundgren’s 1973 opus A Wizard, a True Star was a big influence on the crafting of the new record.

After giving us "Apocalypse Dreams," Tame Impala decides to release another record from their upcoming album Lonerism, which is set to be released October 5th. "Elephant" reinforces how simplistic instrumentation can go a long way with the right people behind it. Straight forward percussion, some catchy keys, and Kevin Parker's lead vocals makes the psychedelic rock of "Elephant" sound oh [...]
Aaaaaaaaaand it's awesome, which should be a surprise to approximately no one. Or just take from this choice bit straight out of their press release: A swaggering glam strut about a cocky jock playing the jerk, 'Elephant' is Tame Impala at their confident (and of course cosmic) best. It's a wild space rock safari and the lift off point to planet Lonerism. Fasten those seat-belts! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
