band of skulls - bruises [okay, i admit that i was less than flattering in my previous posting about the band back in april 2011. i was really turned off by their derivative songwriting skills (everything sounding like something else) and kind of wrote them off. now fast forward to 2012 and it looks like the UK trio have regrouped and come back with new material that showcase a possibly exciting new upcoming album. i'm digging the current single and will await their album 'sweet sour' with trepidation.] [...]

Band of Skulls manages to maintain a balance between being pervasive enough in pop culture while remaining respectably incognito. Especially considering that multiple songs from their debut album, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey , have appeared in shows such as Gossip Girl, Skins, True Blood , movies like Twilight: New Moon and The Hangover II , as well as their single “I Know What I Am” a playable track on Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock . It's only been a week or so since Band of Skulls released their new single " Bruises " but it looks like we've already got some visuals to go along with it and it's exactly how I pictured it would be. Professional wrestlers in a bowling league drinking blue slushies while playing some of the locals in an intense game. Not sure why they're all wearing suits though. This song keeps getting better and better though with each and every listen and I will definitely be grabbing the new album Sweet Sour when [...]
