For its first LP for Matador, this California punk five-piece is quite comfortable eschewing extremes of excellence and awfulness (not to mention its hardcore roots) to be unambitiously average. As a huge Ceremony fan, I am still need to get used to the band's "new sound"... for me, they went from being one of the best hardcore bands to a mediocre garage rock band. I guess they ARE "sick of hardcore" .

Ceremony have released a video for their song "World Blue." The song will appear on their forthcoming full-length, Zoo due out March 6th, 2012 on Matador Records.

Earlier today, Ceremony premiered the second song from their upcoming March LP Zoo , "World Blue." Watch the Robert Semmer-directed video of the band's notorious mosh-fest shows below, and grab the album March 6 via Matador Records .

While Ceremony's latest video, "World Blue," may only clock in at 1:39, it still provides a great primer for those just coming around to this California hardcore band. Like label-mates, Fucked Up, the term hardcore is used loosely, here, for aggressive punk rock is just the starting point. On songs like "World Blue," one can also hear the sound of more mainstream punk artists, like Bad Religion or Green Day from the '90s, as well as the stomp of blue-collar, punch-in-and-punch-out rock. It's unrelenting, fierce, and after 1:39, will leaving you wanting another steel-toed kick. [...]
